I very rarely post, post challenge but I'd really like some feedback on this one.
Obviously this is my shot so I am biased...IMHO it met the challenge and I didn't feel it was a bad shot technically either...here it is...
As my only post challenge commenter has said...why the 15 3 votes??? And why only 5.24?
Your thoughts would be appreciated :o)

Perhaps a square crop would have helped. I sense just a bit too much negative space on the left. I may have twisted the composition so the diagonal line was more at a 45 degree angle. The colors are pleasant and a good choice. Some burn around the edges is always nice to my eye. I don't know how much that would have raised your score, but it might have helped some. The tricky thing with DPC abstract is to get it abstract enough you avoid the DNMC votes, but not too abstract that you get the anti-abstract low votes. It's a fine line. This may have been too abstract possibly. Who knows though? |

Thanks Jason :o) I'm a sucker for negative space and always tend to go a little too far with it for DPC so that could well have been one of the contributing factors ;o) I showed this shot to 2 people before I entered it...one guessed it straight away (but he's been in my house so think he cheated) ;o) and the other didnt know so I entered it thinking there maybe a few others that were good at guessing ;o)

I'm just smart :)
Looking at some of the images around the same score T I do think many other images fell foul to a lower than deserved score. That said, I had this pegged for a 6. Its easy for me to say this with a 6.2 average this year but stick with what you like. I think your carving out a nice negative space niche - sadly its not everybodies cup of T T ;) |

Hmmm... just went through some of your previous neg space shots and noticed a lot of folk commented on its use. Mind you, the shots I looked at had extreme neg space though :)
If that was an issue with this entry, are people afraid to say so? And would that really warrant a vote of 3? Crazy... |

I think you fell into the DPC focus trap. Most of this image is out of focus, aprox. 85% and that doesn't seem to fit well with many voters here at DPC. I'm not criticizing that fact though, only pointing it out. I think huge negative space is more acceptable to voters than a huge part of the image being out of focus. I love neg space btw and use it on images that aren't posted here.
Great image but one I didn't vote on. I would have guessed a porcelain door knob. |
