This idea came to me a couple weeks ago when I was shopping online and looking at //www.resellerratings.com for website reviews on service, shipping, and prices for internet retailers. This service has been invaluable to me and has helped me decide between several different etailers based on the experiences of previous buyers from the site. While ResellerRatings is dominated primarily by computers and technology related sites, photography stores can also be found there as well.
While this is not direct advertising, it indirectly is because it will help people feel better about buying from a place that they have never bought from before. What I'd like to see happen with this is to have people start posting their buying experiences there and build up a solid base. Because I know DPCPrints.com has unbelievably amazing customer service, it shouldn't take long to get a very good rating. After this point, D&L could decide to put a little button on the DPCPrints.com front page for visitors to read testimonials about their prior experiences and really shine a light on DPCPrints.com.
Here is the link to DPCPrints.com resellerrating:

Let's get those reviews going and spread the word about a great site!

I went to leave a review but noticed this:
If you work for this company or are in any way affiliated with this company or any other company listed at ResellerRatings.com, do NOT submit a comment or evaluation. Through our automated and manual fraud checks, if we discover that you posted a fraudulent evaluation, your company will get blacklisted.
Does that mean that if we are selling prints on dpcprints, we shouldn't leave reviews? I'd love to leave a review about the quality of prints I've received but I'm not sure what they'd think of that.

I don't believe that sellers on DPC Prints would fall under that clause, they are users of the site not it's governing body. However, members of the site council would, IMHO, since they influence the direction of the site.
Their wording is so inclusive that practically anyone could in the broadest sense bbe construed to fall under it, thus no one would be able to leave a review. Definitely written by lawyers.

we've had two reviews so far. i'd like to see some more out there as people start buying more prints for the holiday season. this is a very powerful tool and i hope that this will catch on.

I think mk has it right. Sellers on DPCPrints have a pretty direct financial interest in seeing it rated high on resellerratings.com. If you reap a share of the profit from a sale you are affiliated. It would be a step backwards for us to get blacklisted. |

So by your argument, if I worked for Sony, I wouldn't be able to post comments on any reseller that sold Sony products? |

Well isn't the real idea is to get anyone you know who's bought a print to write a review? We shouldn't have to be writing reviews anyway. Have your family/friends order a couple of prints and write reviews if you want to "prime" the ratings .... |

we're paying for the service.. we're customers of dpcprints. They offer the service of printing and selling prints, and we use that service. We're in no way "employees" of dpcprints as i see it.

yeah this is definitely the idea...it just needs to be kickstarted somehow. i think there are lots of people here that don't sell prints and have bought from others that could go and post a review. once it gets rolling I would hope dpcprints.com would grab on to the tool and use it to promote their great customer service

I was thinking of an individual who has prints for sale on DPCPrints, not others. The relation you describe is much less direct. But it is totally unnecessary for us to debae this issue here as we don't have the answer, only opinions. Someone should contact resellersrratings.com, describe the relation between DPCPrints and the individual seller/members here, and get a ruling. |
