ok i go with using your real name. as someone before me said its what people will look for, plus it helps people remember both the domain and your name

I totally agree in MOST situations ... and if my last name didn't totally suck, then that is exactly what I would do ... I wish I had an easier to pronounce and spell last name, would make my life much easier! Credit cards wouldn't come with the name spelled wrong (try fixing that easily!) etc ... even my Mom's caller ID comes up incorrectly spelled ... she's tried to fix it several times and they never get it right ...

Just happened to see it. I agree with some of the discussions below. Building on your last name could be good:

How about PRITZLPIXL.com
or: PritzlsPixels.com

I could be making a bad assumption on how it is pronounced....

I just can't figure out why this is so difficult for me ... apparently I've got some sort of 'commitment' issues onaccounta I can't decide on a name ...

Thanks for all of the great suggestions guys, you've given me some great ideas ... I'll quit bumping this thread and make a decision!

I love your last name!

Pam, Pamela or Sue in comparison is very plane Jane for me and not at all original. If you were ever to make it as an artist I would definitely use Sue Pritzl. It is a name I have never heard before and there is no doubt who is being talked about if it is mentioned.

When someone say Ansel Adams or Anne Geddes you know who they are. PamelaSue could be anyone.

I would go with "Images by Sue Pritzl" and call the website www.SuePritzl.com. It sounds very mature, original and cool and it boasts confidence.
I'm in fact jealous. My last name is "Barstad". Try to say that in Oxford English!!! Luckily I'm Norwegian :)

It may be just me but this screams originality and as a photographer you would want anything but mainstream or 'plane jane'... Let the peeps know who you are!

IMO

I'm starting to warm up to the idea of using my name ... nothing else is really jumping out at me as "the one". I'm gonna grind on it a bit more ... thanks for the input!

One more: pampritzlpics.com I like the alliteration! :-)

eta: Business name could be Pictures by Pam Pritzl, even if you change your name, you can still use this or something like it to keep accounts separate. Many women don't even change their last name now!

ok, so a girl's allowed to change her mind, right?! After considering my options and thumbing through Man_Called_Horse's The Photographer thread where most of the photographers are using their name as their domain identity ... I've decided to use my name ... so I just registered pamelapritzl.com. You guys have made me realize that the uniqueness of my name is a good thing onaccounta I won't be confused with other people very easily ... most of my life I've found it to be a burden from a spelling/pronunciation angle, but finally Pritzl may end up being a good thing!

Thanks to everyone for your suggestions and support ... now I'm off to build a website! Stay tuned for the "critique my website" thread because I'm sure there's one coming!

I'm all in favor of that; I do strongly believe it's a more professional image to use your proper name as a domain name.

Am I correct in assuming "Pritzl" is pronounced like "Pretzel" except with an "it" sound in the first syllable? If so, I can't imagine what the problem is; heck, I'm DEAF and I got it right :-) Maybe you just remember the relative few who DO mangle it, and ignore the vast majority who don't? That's a pretty common thing...

I was guessing more like Preetzee, with a long e sound for both vowels. Or could sound like P-reet-zee sort of italianesque?

Are we close? Inquiring minds want to know.
