I am going to pick up my daughter from Brown U in providence tomorrow.
It's a 3 hour drive each way; but I was thinking of leaving a bit early and stopping along the way to shoot somewhere.
I've thought about Bash Bish Falls -- I've been meaning to go there -- but it's an hour out of the way driving time. I was hoping to find something more along the way.
I could easily stop at Purgatory Chasm, that's right on the way. Not sure how photogenic it is though, from what I've seen on the web.
I could go back to Castle Hill Light--that's 1 hour past Providence each way though.
So I was wondering if anyone knew of a nice waterfalls, covered bridge, or other photogenic landscape that would be "on the way" (taking the Thruway to the Mass Pike then south on 146 to providence.) Or even right near the Providence area?
Also, if someone is interested in a quick shooting get together that would be cool--I'll probably only have an hour or so to shoot!

I just drove the same route last weekend, but didn't have any opportunities to stop for photos. I did find this website with Mass. waterfalls on it... might help you pin something down that's on the way. Here is a page with covered bridges, but it doesn't look like any are right along the way.
What about Springfield... any interesting old buildings there? There's also Stockbridge which isn't far off of 90. There are also some hiking trails there that go through an ice glen and also up to Laura's tower. Probably not very photogenic though this time of year and with the weather they're forecasting. Here is a link to some photos though.
Good luck finding an interesting pit stop along the way, and I hope the weather holds out! |
