The other thread was promptly hi-jacked by my dear photog friends. Here it is again, in case anyone wants to comment on this:

I was just reading something today, and I gleaned from something I thought was sort of interesting.

People are capable of doing one of two things: Acting for ourselves, or being acted upon. When we act for ourselves, then we are the ones who decide how we feel and the decisions we make. When we are being acted upon, then we are at the mercy of others who "make" us feel a certain way, or think a certain thing. In essence, we become victims as the opinions of others are imposed upon us.

The final point is, we can choose whether to act for ourselves to to be acted upon - we decide if we want to be victims or not.

How does this relate to DPC? You can't change the masses. Out of thousands of users of DPC, we will have some rude people, some ignorant people, some highly educated people, some uneducated people, some young, some old, some happy, some upset. On the aggregate, you can't change that. But, you can decide whether your decisions on what to enter in a challenge will be swayed by the weekly threads, or whether you want to leave the site because of some rude commenters. You can let yourself be victimized by others, or you can choose to glean what you can from others, and do things the way that works best for you.

I propose we put an end to the "victim" culture.

Did you ever consider that the victim culture, being a culture, is an aspect of masses that you cannot change.. or can you?

I'm suggesting that people change their own victim culture. I don't think we can change everyone.
