Any feedback on my two choices - yes, I only had two :-) I am leaning towards the second I think

Tanking majorly. Sitting on the verge of a 2, of all things! I might die.

I hear ya. I'll be lucky to hit a 5. Sorry my personal worst is my dpcnw debut. Sorry guys!!

I'm in the same boat, under 5...ouch!

Haha well at least I'm not the only one! Got some great critiques tho, one of whom said that my outtake would have been an 8 from him. Y'know, I almost almost almost entered the other one like 8 minutes before deadline...but the internet was going so slow at that point that it probably would have timed out the upload.

One of the comments says that everything in the picture is really dusty. Apparently that person didn't read the title that mentions the dust!

It'd be really nice if I could just pull a 5 so that my personal overall score won't fall below 5.

With the exception of Mom2Two, you guys are all Canon users. I was wondering if you could help me out with my flash. The guy at B&H said that I didn't need one of those cords to connect my speedlite 430 to the camera because it is capable of being used wireless. Was he mistaken or have I just not found the right button to push yet? The manual doesn't say anything about this.

Hi Stephanie, yes it is can be wireless. However, I am not much help because I rarely use my flash. But the times I have, I had two set up, one on the camera and one set as a slave, to sync with the flash. I don't know if that is what made the diffenence (having two). I hope somebody else can answer you question better.

Thanks for the fast response. I know a bit about slaves, but the guy at the B&H saw that I was only buying one, which is partially why I'm confused!

I decided to ask the DPC masses to see if they can help so I can get to work on this week's photo!

11/17/2008 11:19:12 PM · #388
How's everyone doing? I'm going with my shot on flickr....
11/17/2008 11:21:59 PM · #389
I shot today...I need to go through and see if any would work. I'll be editing tonight and posting in our private group tomorrow. I will be in.
11/18/2008 01:05:41 PM · #390
I am struggling but will find something to shoot - I don't think I'll have time to post in our private group but I'll shoehorn something in. :-)
11/18/2008 02:04:28 PM · #391
I'm in. My shot won't do that well (probably low 5, high 4), but I'm in...
11/18/2008 02:14:31 PM · #392
I am in. Argh....really not happy with the results, but I posted the best one, in my opinion, over at our site.
11/18/2008 02:19:59 PM · #393
The filter here at work doesn't allow me to access the flickr site. I'll check it out tonight. mom2two & jess are in too. That makes 4...anyone else getting in ?
11/18/2008 05:50:40 PM · #394
I should be in too. Nothing amazing, but I did get stopped by the cops for having a professional camera in the subway.
Cop: Hey hey hey! What are you doing with that camera?
Me: Um, taking pictures?
Cop: Do you have a permit?
Me: I'm in a public place so I don't need one.
Cop: I know that, but you can't just come in here and take pictures like you own the place. [Note: SOOO not how I was conducting myself at all.] How are we supposed to know what you're taking pictures of?
Me: I was taking pictures of people getting off the train, you know, with motion blur and stuff. I'll show you if you want. (Clicks the preview button and shows cop)
Cop: No no. I don't want to see. (Walks off)
Me: ?????

That's the first time I've ever gotten stopped. I'm not really sure why she stopped me to ask if I had a permit when she said she knew I didn't need one. Weird.

Anyway, I will probably enter into the Art challenge. I didn't realize how absolutely impossible it is to take a macro shot without a macro lens or extension tube!

To funny, I've been stopped a couple of times. I just play it cool and they pretty much go away...Lol. Good, looks like we have the min. of 5...
OK, had so much trouble with the pm's, I cleared out my internet temp files and stuff. I went to go to the flickr acct. and can't sign in, I forgot password & ID, I don't exist...Lol. Can some one go to the group page, there is a invite tab and send me a invite. â€Â¦..Hope my shot scores better than this day has beenâ€Â¦Lolâ€Â¦..Thanksâ€Â¦ace

PW...urgh, 3.8. Why??

New shot going up slowly. 4.6667 right now. I predicted low 5's, so I think I should be about right.

I have vague ideas for Hanging By A Thread and concrete ones for Backlighting...I suspect the backlighting ideas will turn out more blah though. Will shoot both.

That 3.8 seems a bit harsh to me. I look forward to what everyone comes up with, with these new challenges. My latest challenge might be a PW for me. I expected it not to do so well. I am hoping for above a 5.0. Sitting at a 5.5 right now.

Try using "jgarry23", I just can't remember my password to that acct.

Not doing to bad. My shot is sitting at 6.33, many funny images in that challenge.

My blue entry came in at 4.7762, about what I expected.

My current entry is at 5.1429 with one nice comment. I expect to get about a billion other comments saying "too dark" since I forgot to overcompensate for my bright laptop screen. The thing is that this isn't even the photo I wanted to enter for this week. It's just the only photo I had edited by 10:30 last night when my computer started totally freaking out. By the time the thing started working properly again, I had only 10 minutes to submit, so I stuck this one in just to have something. I'm not sure my other photo would have scored any better, but I liked the idea of the other one better. Oh well. C'est la vie.
