I purchased Portrait Pro 8 and have been giving it a go. So far I love it, but don't know for sure if it is over the top. What do you guys think?

Not over the top at all. Maybe the face could use just a wee bit of softening in the After photo, but other than that, it's a very nice looking contemporary portrait.

Is Portrait Pro 8 a set of plug-ins? Or some sort of stand alone proprietary software?

I think it looks like a pretty balanced program. The softening, sharpening, tonal adjustments, and saturation seems to be pretty balanced. Although, I think the eyes might be a bit too vivid. Perhaps lowering the intensity of the effect on the eyes?

Overall, I think it looks fine. I would like to see how 'intense' this software can get, and how its editing process
differs than other programs.

Best,

It is a stand alone app.

And thanks for the comments.

I love the green eyes..not over the top at all to me. I'm still thinking over purchasing. I have version 6.3.5, and like the new options available. I have to find the email with my old activation token before I can download and purchase...I get another discount if I have my old token.

One last bump for the day crew. Let me know what you think.

James ... I think that you've done a great job with that program ... effects aren't 'over-done' at all ... might be worth purchasing for me ... do they have a free trial period?

The eyes are too much for my tastes, but part of that is greater eye liner than usual. The remainder of the image is great.

I think the eyes look overdone. It takes away from the beautiful image.

I have the trial version of 7 ( i think).....thinking of buying the 8...how much of a change is there fromthe trial to the purchased product?

in all honesty, I don't do alot of 'glamour' shots, so is it worth the purchase?

I still have 6 and love it. Will upgrade when I can afford it.

Posted these before but they are on topic.. Portrait Pro is a great piece of software as long as you stick to the saying "Less is more".. if you go mad on the sliders it can look awful.

I just got this program also and love it!! Very easy to use and inexpensie as far as photo software goes. Simms is right though, you can really go crazy on the sliders and make people look WAY different. When I have used it I like to keep the original and the one I am processing side by side so they don't look too different because you can change even the shape of the face alot. I tried the free trail version before I bought it and the only difference, that I saw, was that you can't save your work

Wow, it does full-on cosmetic surgery, too? That's a miraculous piece of software. :-P

You talked me into it... and the upgrade wasn't too hard on my checkbook at $40.

Can't wait 'till I have time to play with it.
