I want to hold you to this 'til rollover next Tuesday......8>)

Jeb, you're in a sucking coma for Pete's sake! You're grounded from your camera! Nah, jk, good work and congrats!

Max - did you get my email ?

I'm sorry team, I've barely picked up my camera lately. No time.

No rush, Max. We're having some major phone line issues right now, so I wasn't sure the email went through at all.

Congrats on the ribbon and high score, Jeb!

My good news is that we closed on our new house today. Work starts on Monday: moving walls, enclosing a deck and a patio into the house, etc. Won't move in until April or so.

But here's what it'll look like. :)

Cool looking digs there Jeffrey! Most important question though: where is the studio located? :-)

You gals have a great time! I'm so jealous! Take lots of pictures so I can live vicariously!

Oh, I think between the two of us we may take a picture or two. Or six. Or several hundred. :)

I can't wait to see pinhole shots of Rome. Sounds like a city made for the medium...
11/14/2008 04:50:42 PM · #463
Yeah, I'm trying to decide if I throw the Rebel body with the pinhole cover on it in the bag, or just the body cap.... I'm thinking the whole thing may go....

Deb, I see you have the Canon 10-22.

That should just be enough to capture the colossalness of Rome.

I look forward to looking through your shots when you are all done.

Ha! In the right half of the detached two-car garage. I figure that way I can keep the steady stream of nude women models out of the house, but for some reason, my wife disagrees with this plan.

In all seriousness, I claimed that half of the garage from the minute we agreed to buy the house. :)

Deb and Sara, have a fantastic time! I envy you.

Rome may never recover.......8>)

We'll be expecting MUCH imagery!

Masters' FS entries perhaps????
11/15/2008 03:10:17 AM · #467
Speaking of Matsers' FS entries.....I got to strike out another of my DPC goals and submitted my entry the other day.

I dunno how it'll be received, but my entry is indicative of where my skills and abilities as a photog and editor have evolved to since finding my way here.

It's only been since my induction to Team Suck that I have evolved to a point where I became eligible for such an august event.

I blame you guys for my development!

Yeah, uh, sorry about that, Jeb. :-)

Sara? You packed yet?? I bought a Gorillapod so we can do night stuff.
11/15/2008 12:11:25 PM · #470
Packed? No - I'll just throw some clean clothes into a rucksack tomorrow afternoon... Think i will sort my camera stuff out tonight 'though. I have spent the afternoon on the internet trying to sort out camera insurance as my ordinary household policy won't cover it abroad - quotes so far have been pretty expensive.

I did go and get my Euros this morning - ouch! The exchange rate is at an all-time low, and I could only get 1.19 Euro to the pound, which is horrible! Last year I got 1.54 to the pound when I went to Corfu.

What battery does your camera take? I am trying to work out whether I need to take my battery charger, but I think I will have to get an adapter as I can't find the one I already have...
11/15/2008 12:20:01 PM · #471
BP-511A for the 30D, NB-2LH for the Rebel. Not sure if either of those are what the 40D uses.

I have no idea what my insurance covers. I suppose I'll find out if I need to make a claim, huh? Let's hope no claims are needed....

Edit - looked up the 40D - seems like we're good on the battery! I guess it's the 50D that changes. I'll bring my charger. Hopefully Italy uses the same two-prong plug that Germany does. We'll be good to go.

Excellent. Can't wait for monday, although I'm not entirely looking forward to the 2.30am start!
When I find my mobile phone and number I shall send you an e-mail.

Sara and Deb, I know you will have a fantastic time in Rome. Can't wait to see the images! I am very jealous.
11/15/2008 12:59:04 PM · #474
German plugs will fit in Italy. Rome is a wee bit notorious for the likes of two men on a scooter, one driving and the other snatching handbags, cameras etc. so be reasonably careful. Don't let it spoil the fun though.
I'm pretty jealous here, but I'm relying on you two for better pictures, so...

ETA Let's try that one again - I'm relying on you two to take a lot better pictures than I would have...
