I picked up a d200 with a battery pack all th e manuals cables 2 batteries and a field guide and some memroy card a 2gig a 1gig and 3 518mb with shipping for $758 off of ebay. I felt like this was a good deal.... The camera looks brand new not a scuff or scratch. I was unable to find out how many clicks but some of the pictures I took with it look fine.....I am going to shoot a wedding tomorrow and I have to get familar really quick...Anyone got any little tips or tricks for this camera?? Does anyone know how many shots I can get off of the battery pack using a flash and a vr lens? I cannot believe how heavy this sucker is with the battery pack a flash and a old metal lens on it..ALso for some reason the vertical shutter button feels so ackward to use not sure if I will every use it any one else use it???well off to go and try and figure this puppy out........

Hey congratulations!!!!! Even though I own a Rebel XSI (450D), I was really impressed with a Nikon D70 I tried at a friend's. I am sure the D200 is a whole lot better.

Enjoy.. and dont forget to share some pictures!!

You'll really enjoy your D200. Very durable. One thing I noticed compared to my D70 was that the D200 eats batteries, especially with a VR lens. Be sure and keep your batteries charged up, shouldn't be a problem with a battery pack I guess, don't have one so couldn't say. A 2gig memory card will yield you about 140 pics in RAW. Review your camera menue closely. I would reset it to the default and then set your own preferences. Lots of good stuff in there you can play with. Be sure to check to make sure you have the latest software software loaded. There was a new version that came out a year or so ago.

When you say battery pack do you mean a Grip? If so use it! it will extend the life of both batteries by quite a bit. Any time I use a single battery they go dead pretty fast can burn both up in an afternoon, if I use the Grip Batts last 4-5 times longer with both in grip.

Double A's will go down quick.

With your regular packs, if from Nikon, You'll get many JPGs, maybe as many as 1200. With RAW maybe as few as 100. Depends on the ambient temps and how quick you take the shots. For some reason the quicker I take the shots the more I get from the battery. I've gotten as many as 500 RAW when shooting fast and furious. Don't worry about leaving the camera on. I was out of town for a week once without my D200 and it was on the whole time. Battery was still almost full charge. If your camera has been sitting without a batt for a while there is an internal battery that will discharge. The first use with this camera with that battery not charged will suffer about a 50 percent reduction in shots. Since yours is used I don't think you'll run into this. Have fun, it's a great camera and you got it at a good price.
