My score has been bumped up to 3.7 by trolls. I have reason to suspect that some of those trolls are from Team Suck!

That's the funniest damn thing I've read all day. There was some other funny stuff somewhere, but I'm not sure where it was. But this was funnier.

I've been having fun making postcards! For a small fee (OK, simply your unending adoration and the occasional comment) I may take requests. You'd have to tell me which shot you REALLY want on a 4x6 ragpaper card, and PM me your snail mail address. No promises, as I only have so much of the paper, which I bought in Santa Babs on the recommendation of Germaine. But I did note that it's German manufactured paper so I'm thinkin' I might be able to find it here if I run out. Oh, and I'll mail the card in an envelope so it doesn't get all postmarky. That way you can use it if you wish.

I've received a couple of favorable comments on my stupid challenge-entering-ending Periodic Table shot. At least one from a Sucker so far. Muchas gracias and vielen Dank and all that good stuff.

I would be ecstatic if I could have a postcard from your Budingen series. I do not even care which one. I would leave that up to your discretion.

I'd be delighted, Barbara! I'll do a couple for you. PM me your address. :-)

Deb--
Count me among those who will miss your entries. I understand needing a break, though. Will you still be shooting and making updates to your portfolio?
11/11/2008 02:53:22 PM · #410
Yes, Kelli - I'll re-edit that for print and send that one to you. And yes, Elaine, I'll definitely be posting to my portfolio. I still very much enjoy shooting and sharing. Just not the whole voting process of late. Not sure what's changed about it, but just seems to be unnecessarily brutal and cutthroat for no apparent reason, you know? Then there's the bitching about not getting any comments, followed by bitching about not getting the right kind of comments. I'm sure the pendulum will swing back soon.... And Free Studies are still fair game. At least I don't often get DNMC'd in those. :-)

Thanks Deb!!

Does anyone know if the picture frames in pspx2 are legal in basic?
11/11/2008 03:15:27 PM · #412
Glad you'll still be around Deb!
11/11/2008 04:28:41 PM · #413
Deb, by all means take time off from dpc if you need it...but don't you dare stop taking pics! And I would love to get any shot of yours (well OK maybe that one of the pigeon from Wildlife IV)on that ragpaper, if you have any left.

Smoke is blowing along at 4.2 mostly cause 'not enough smoke' and didn't submit to Periodic. But do have a Blue in and a plan to shoot for Heart.

Oh, I'll keep shooting. That's the part of the addiction I quite like. :-) And I'll stick stuff in my portfolio. I have an idea for Hearts, even, but if I get it done, I'll do the portfolio thing and share it with you guys. Deal?
11/11/2008 04:42:16 PM · #416
Deb, I think you hit the nail on the head that's probabaly why I haven't entered any challenges. Still out there doing my thing but not caring about running around trying to get that perfect shot for a challenge. Will look foreward to the photos you put up in your profile.

Oh deal! I have been doing this for a couple of months and I feel so free. Nothing is better than not worrying about scores. I still get quite a few comments without being in a challenge.

After a long DPC sabbatical, I missed worrying about scores. Now I try to enter every contest I can and not caring about the score has been the most liberating.

Yep, a nice long sabbatical will do that. I'm just overdue for one. Still like DPC, though. Neat place, good people.

I go hot & cold any more.

I have found that if I jam one in with a shoehorn that I'm not happy with, I get remorse the whole time I'm getting spanked......that SUCKS!!!! LOL!!!

I entered a bunch during July, then two or three a month since then, one of each of those comprising a Free Study.

My work's been scoring better, and I care less simply because what I'm entering, I'd have done over and loved it anyway.

Not for one second was I prepared for my Abandoned ribbon, much less the 7+.

I knew it was decent, but I'm still surprised that it did so well.

What I liked most about it, the sheer dereliction of it......you kinda cringe walking around in that old train 'cause it's sooooooooo scuzzy.....is what I really liked but it never occurred to me that its absolute abandonment would resonate with the voters.

One thing that has helped my attitude about it is the support of the people who know what it's like to be regular people and remind us that it's all about us in the long run.

Remember Judi's Boring Mediocre challenge?

How 'bout Deb's "I really love my shot" project.

I still live by that motto.....if I can't look at the image right before I hit the submit button, it doesn't go.

I've worked over images before like Ali with a sparring partner and right before I entered them asked myself, "Do I really like my image?"

I've passed on challenges....

I know y'all still love me here whether I enter or not!......8>)

...and right before I entered them asked myself, "Do I really like my image?"

That's all that matters. Do YOU like your image for what it is? Or are you going to obsess and worry about wether or not dpc likes your image?

I think my recent 6s and in-voting faves have been due more to DPC *FINALLY* appreciating my images than me trying to shoot DPC-friendly images. Maybe I'm wrong and delusional.

But...guess what...I DON'T CARE!!!!! MUHAHAHAAHAHAAAAAAA!!!!

And that, dear friends, is why I love being a TSer.

just in case anyone was wondering, the sprog is still up and about. this was down by the cenotaph today. the usual moving ceremony, but slightly marred by the fact that they used canned music. what, in a military town, they couldn't scare up a band??? hell, when i was in sea cadets, we played every single remembrance day. and it always rained or snowed. perhaps the band was at the ceremony where all the politicians went, instead of the one where all the military (mainly navy) folks went. gah.

o, and he was death for hallow'een. with his assistant. and our dishwasher.
