I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but I received this reply from an e-mail to Kandy this morning:

Kandy Jones died on May 15 from health complications caused by Rocky Mountain Spotted Fever.

Services were held on May 17. A memorial fund has been established at the Midsouth Health Clinic (Foster Care Services) at 2707 Browns Ln. in Jonesboro, AR 72401 if you would like to contribute.

We see photographers come and go on the site, so it's not too uncommon that a regular face doesn't come around anymore. I just wanted to share this for anyone who might have wanted to hear and had not. Kandy was a wonderful and active participant in DPChallenge, and our belated but sincere condolences go out to her family and friends.

This is disturbing news. Kandy was a valuable contributor to DPC, I always enjoyed her photos, and her comments and pm's were always helpful. My condolences to her family, I will miss her.

This is very sad news. She was the nicest person you could meet.

I got an email from her on 5-4, a few days after a hiking trip, saying she had had a high fever and was down to 100.4. And then no emails. I thought it might be because she didn't like us or something. I wish that was the case now. ;(
