I've been trying desperately to get back the files that were accidentally deleted from my D90's. So far I used 6 different softwares to no avail. Can anyone recommend a good recovery program?

Nikon NEF format,
SanDisk Extreme III cards.

I had luck with PC Inspector Smart Recovery.

I've used the free software that comes with the Sandisk Extreme cards (on the mini CD), and got all that were accidentally deleted- plus a load more!

Easy, fast and very effective.

Edit, though I'm not sure if it works with NEF files...

//www.z-a-recovery.com/ This saved my SD files. If you have reshot over that space on the card they will not be recoverable I think. For example if it was the first shot on the card, you reformatted and took one photo it would overwrite the first file. However in this case, I would be able to get the second shot and further down the line. My .NEF files came out as tif files and were renumbered, so may not be ok for DPC challenges, but the files converted like a raw file in photoshop for me. good luck.

I just got this NY Times article on what looks like some spiffy new recovery software.
