Hello, I currently am working on building my studio photography skills. Yesterday I did an experement with droping foods into a tank of water. (Apples, Peppers, Chile, etc.) Today I did some water drop photograph by hand. I'd like to do some more studio activities that can be preformed in my house, and am just looking for some ideas. If you have done anything fun that you enjoyed, I'd like to know. Discuss:

the biggest thing about studio work is lighting (well I guess that applies to all photography, huh?).
Christopher Grey's book on studio lighting is excellent. Get it and then replicate all the different types of lighting in there until you can do it in your sleep.
If you more into things than people, get shiny things and try that for a challenge. A simple, but sometimes not so easy task, is ye old still life - fruit (round, shiny, colorful) in a glass bowl (so you can learn to light clear, yet reflective, things).

I love shooting out doors but I do that for fun. Shooting in the studio is a passion for me. My web site might give you some idea's... www.davenitsche.net
Also check out stillzone.com That's vipermikes gallery. He is the king of light. Go to photo.net and check out the still gallery there. Tons of stuff around to give a bit of inspiration. Find something you like and try to morph it into your own idea's.
