Okay, so this is a pretty strange question...
For the few of you that use Capture NX, have you ever been able to use the Fisheye lens adjustment (under lens adjustments) when you aren't actually using a fisheye??? It normally checks the EXIF to see what lens you used, and either will or won't let you use it... but I was somehow able to use it with a photo taken on my 18-200mm, but I can't seem to replicate the steps that somehow allowed me to use the fisheye correction for a non-fisheye photo. Anybody done this before? |

Do you mean the 'Distortion Control'? I don't have a fisheye so havn't used the feature before, but I can open a photo taken with my 50mm and still use the distortion control. Im not sure if its the same as a specific fisheye correction feature (I think NX recognises the 10.5mm 2.8 and can automatically correct and crop to create a 'normal' view?), but I can definitely use the distortion control on all of my shots.
I got to it through: Adjust -> Correct -> Distortion Control |

from the help...
"The Fisheye Lens tool is only displayed when the active image was shot with either the AF DX Fisheye-Nikkor 10.5mm f/2.8G ED or AF Fisheye-Nikkor 16mm f/2.8D lenses. This feature enables you to modify an image taken with a compatible fisheye lens to make that image appear to have been taken with a wide-angle rectilinear lens." |

| AH! Okay, so the I was mistakenly thinking the Distortion Control was part of the Fisheye Lens tool (since they are similar), and that's why I was so frustrated that I couldn't do the same thing again. I was confused because I knew the fisheye tool was only allowed for use with those two lenses, yet had used the Distortion Control. Thanks a ton Anders! |
