I am SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO excited!!!!

The guy from the graphics shop just stopped by here with the first panel....I've got to run it to Philadelphia tomorrow for a design client.

What panel, you ask?

The 40"X72" 1st of three that make up the 6'x11' enlargement of this image from my D70s: [thumb]734976[/thumb]

It's funny how much grief I get for the ol' brick and how I'm constantly told to upgrade to a "better" piece.

It's really clean.......even I'm surprised by how nice it looks.

This camera constantly surprises me by the quality of its images.

If you're not sitting down already, Jeb, I might be an idea to do so before you read the rest of this...

It looks like you've done something right.

Don't let it go to your head though - 40" x 3 = 120" which is ten feet - 44" would be good for 11'

As for the 7.2 plus, that's way beyond anything I can explain or make smart arse comments about. Way to go, don't stop.

Congrats Jeb! I got a nice comment from you so one of those six is yours!

PS Done anyone need a Canon EFS 17-85? I'm just trying to sell it to make up the cost of getting my 30D.

My Abandoned and Smoke are doing abysmally, both 4s. Oh well keeps me humble and my average down lol! However I think my BlueII shot will do well and I still have to shoot Periodic Table.

I was entry #5 for Periodic Table. At that point, I had a good shot at being in the top 100. :-)

Is anyone good at guess dog breed mixes ?

I'm posting a few more photos of our new friend.

Her name is Bo.

She is 2½ years old, and weighs 55 lbs.

If you need photos of any other features, let me know and I will get them !

Profile
- notice the sharp shoulder blade and hunched stance.

Facial Profile
- long thin snout
- ears held away from head, but 'floppy'

Ears & Face

Walking
- head held almost level to body, somewhat 'hunched'

Tail

Completely a guess, but I'd think at least some shepard and some collie mixed in there.
11/08/2008 03:23:22 PM · #362
I see shepherd and blue tick hound..
11/08/2008 03:26:01 PM · #363
I'm going to say it's 100% dog. :-)
11/08/2008 04:11:38 PM · #364
I see mostly shepherd and some kind of sight hound, maybe bloodhound even. That hunched stance in the first pic tells me she's likely been beaten or abused at some point, she looks a little underweight, but she looks more relaxed in the other ones.

Oh Ok then, guesss I have to go through my pixels to see...!!!!! :-)

Personally, I think I see a fair amount of shepherd in her, but beyond that I'm at a loss.
She's definitely 100% dog though.

Beaten ? I don't think so - but I admit I don't know how accurate the history we have is (especially seeing as we were told she was a 30-lb lab/collie cross !).

Her weight / health is not as good as it should be, but we've only had her a few days. She's been living on Alpo, but we've switched that to a 1/2 raw food diet, and 1/2 higher quality kibble (Canidae all life stages, if anyone is familiar).

Last one - for today ;)

That's Bo, with Boo ;)
11/08/2008 05:48:41 PM · #368
I think it's a dog. Not much poodle or chihuahua in there though. Looks well to me, I can get Susan's observation of the stance, but it may yet be affected by the new environment etc. Congratulations.

I've got a shot in periodic table that's mine all mine. It'll score low for sure.

I took the first panel to Philadelphia this afternoon to show the agent & designer......they both loved it and were impressed with how clean the image looks in its full size.

[thumb]737701[/thumb]

It's printed on a canvas material with "bulletproof" ink, and will be stretched over a wood frame.

The part that looks like a black border is exactly that so that you can't see white wrapping around the sides of the wood frame it'll be stretched across.

We're all hoping that the client loves it as much as we all do; me, the printer, the agent,& the designer.

The printer, who was skeptical at first of being able to get anything decent from my image since my camera is "ONLY" a 6.1MP, has told me at least a half dozen times that it's as good as he's ever seen.

I found out today after we discussed our framer up here doing it then delivring it that we don't have to deliver it to Philadelphia......it's staying here in Harrisburg.

Jeb - make sure you post a photo of the canvas in-situ - it sounds absolutely amazing!

Kashi, it looks like Bo and Boo are going to be best buddies.

This time 8 days away I shall be in Rome - Yay! I am expecting Deb to give me a masterclass in photographing Roman pigeons!
11/09/2008 07:55:50 AM · #371
Yep, Rome, soon! I'm quite excited about the prospect, and delighted to have a pigeon-photographing buddy. Sara, we have a room, in a hotel next door to the one I told you about the first time. I'll send you a link. We'll be staying right outside of Vatican City, and will work on figuring transportation systems to the rest of the sights when we get there. I did by a guidebook to Rome this morning. Has some good info, good walking tours, etc.

And I told my dad last night - when I was talking to Sara on the phone about this adventure, the first question wasn't "where are we staying" or anything like that - it was "which lenses are you bringing so we don't duplicate?" How geeky is that? :-)

LOL now that is camera-geeky! There's a quote for your homepage Deb! Hugs to you and Sara both!

Yay, good to hear as my D40 is 6.1 mps...way to go Jeb, you must be so thrilled! On a much more humble scale I'm taking my calendar to the printers on Monday. zzzz...

Lea, glad Boo and Bo are happy together! I can see maybe a teeny smidge of collie in her but she looks as much part-Lab as I look like Halle Berry. Maybe her stance is due more to unsureness and some timidity, but again she looked much happier and more relaxed in the other shots.

Still haven't a shot for Periodic Table yet but I have everything all lined up, just have to get my lazy ass in gear. I am very happy with my Blue shot, as is a Team Canada Loonie Bin teammate (and some of those teammates ribboned recently - Bradshaw, LVicari and I believe jeger - so maybe I'll get lucky this time!

Hey Lea, congratulations on the new dog I know shes found herself great place to live. We have an awesome dog food recipe if you like we've used it for three dogs now and the results have been fantastic. Long life, great coats, healthy teeth, loads of energy, no bad breath smell, healthy weight control..... the list goes on, so if you would like it just let me know.

As for your dog we think German shepherd (obviously), Doberman (looking at the nose and ears, they look like that before they crop them) and Hound (for the coat and colouring).

Just our two cents worth.

Hope this helps.

All the best to you and yours.

MAX!
