Now I know the 5d mark ii is going to be hands down better than the 50d, but I need some opinions here. I'm wanting to upgrade from my 10d and it's about time! I mostly like street photography, but I want to start doing some model shoots too, oh and stock photography.
I mainly want more megapixels for the ability to crop better.
I'm not sure what I'll be losing with the 1.6x sensor compared to the full frame sensor.
I think the 12000 ISO IS SUFFICIENT.
50d has faster bursts I think?
I'm sure I'm missing a lot, so please fill in the gaps.
I'm not sure the +$1400 price difference is worth it to me at this time.
Please reassure my 50d decision or change my mind.
Thanks!

| I bet you will be more than pleased with the 50D. It should be quite up to the tasks you mentioned above. |

The 5DII is better in:
- Better high-ISO performance (because of larger photosites)
- More MP for cropping
- Movie mode
The 50D has:
- Twice the fps
- Arguably better sports/action auto-focus
- Price
Though I'm probably forgetting a slew of things right now... =) |

If you have been happy with your 10D, I can't imagine why you would not be pleased with the 50D. You will be getting more mp with the 50D as well (I know you know that but you asked to be reassured!!!). I recently switched from the 40D to the 5D for landscapes, etc. Part of me regrets the switch mostly because of the lousy AF compared to what I had with the 40D. I don't do street photography, but I would imagine a reliable AF would be a plus. FWIW, I plan to go to a 50D if the 5D2 truly focuses like the 5D. Let us know the ultimate size of your wallet biopsy! Ben

I decided to buy the 50D. I'll be doing some thorough testing, but so far I really love it compared to my 10D.

Congrats then on your purchase! I'm sure you'll love it. Let me be the first to remind you to change your DPC profile to show Canon EOS-50D!

| I ordered a 50D last night and should have it next week. I will be upgrading from a 400D Rebel XTi. Can't wait to compare results! |

| I just got my 50D on Monday ... I've been SO busy with work I haven't had a lot of time to play with it yet ... been reading the manual to familiarize myself with the menu etc ... coming from an XT, it's a HUGE step up! Unfortunately I've got a very busy weekend and then I'm back out of town for work next week ... someday I hope to get some time to start shooting ... |
