Ahhh - I just love it when I make a "find". When I woke up yesterday morning, I did not know the name "Imogen Cunningham" and today I do! I am blown away by her work and am loving just looking and looking. So simple, so beautiful and so distinct. If (like me) you had not really looked at her work go here...

you can probably find more images easier if you just do a google -> images search for her name. |

She's been at the top of my "A" list for many years. I had the opportunity
to meet this wonderful woman quite late in her life, and have an
autographed book to remember the occasion.

Hmmm, now that I've got the book out, there goes the morning!

She's always been a hero of mine. I, too, met her, in 1972 I believe. I look at her pictures, which are breathtaking to me, and I sigh ruefully as I realize that there is scarcely a one of them that would measure up to DPC "standards"... So it goes, I guess :-(

I was leant a copy of "Flora - Imogen Cunningham" yesterday and have been going through it. Amazing that you people got to meet her once upon a time. I am inspired to going back to pre-photoshop days and try my hand at duotone simplicity..... with the least bit of manipulation possible. Watch out family of mine: this Christmas it's going to be matter of each person receiving a Cunninghamesque print :-) |
