Anyone have any problems with this camera? I was thinking about buying it. I want the Sony F717 but to much money for me right now. Would love some feed back on the Fuji camera please.

Not too many using it here yet, but when I upgrade from my 3800, I am thinking of going to the 5000 or the 7000. |

Might want to read the reviews. I was considering the 5000 myself but was discouraged by forum posts which aired concern about image quality. The Panasonic DMC-FZ10 is an altenative in about the same price range.

If you'd really like to have a 717, consider the dsc-v1 that have all the equipment and the specs the 717 have (plus some more) except for the zoom. Compared to the Fuji you'll get more pixels (5mp instead of 3.2mp) Better exposure range (up to 30 sec, instead of 2 sec,and 1/2000 instead of 1/1000)a better LCD and a USB2.0 connection to your computer and the price will be in the middle of the fuji and the 717.

The Panasonic DMC-FZ10 is a nice camera but is $300 more then i want to spend and the Sony DSC-V1 from what i read has grainy color. I was also looking at the Olympus C750 or the Finepix S5000 any one else have a suggestion. Trying to keep the price around $700 Canadian funds. Anyone have feedback on the Nikon Coolpix 4300?
Thanks

In your price range you can buy a used SONY F717 or a Nikon Coolpix 5700, two high-end prosumer cameras! Nikon has excellent image quality, real tones and a huge lens. |

I would love the Sony F717, i am very use to it, my ex had that camera and I loved it. But I am not buying it as the camera will be a gift for Christmas so I have to chose a model. I can get new on eBay for $800 Canadian plus shipping but have seen a few rip off artist on their so reluctant to send money.

Hi Chrome!
I bought my c-750 from PCLINE on eBay about 2 months ago - they were very quick to ship, perfect transaction - and then a few weeks later bought the underwater housing from FLASHPOINTCAMERAS, same deal. So far as I can tell, they're both excellent eBay dealers with lots of transactions and a high feedback rating.
I upgraded from a Fujifilm 3800, and I was amazed at the difference 1mp made!
I'd have liked to upgrade to the Rebel, but knowing that I take lots of beach shots, I knew that I'd have a minimum of $3K to have to spend for all the toys I'd need to go along with it - so this one works quite well for me, and I've still got a lot to learn about it. |

You are right Pitsaman, the 7000 would be more like one step up, the 5000 like a half step. I still need to become consistent with the 3800, so who knows what I'll go with next. I like fuji color. They say there isn't much color correction needed, and I agree. It's pretty true. |
