I have 22 comments a new high for me!! Cabappl3 yes I totally agreed with yours and if funny had it not been a last minute rush on this one I would have played more but it was a challenge just getting it in on time :-) The masked voter with the feedback scale (although I was frustrated at first view) it is a helpful way to vote. I have wished in the past that there was category voting on this for "technical merit" "meets challenge" and "creativity" so I see that they created their own - although we may not love it it is spot on for viewing why they voted the way they did.

Guys, the person who is leaving the criteria comments is giving you feedback! It is valuable feedback. If you don't like the style, that's fine, but please don't slam someone for leaving feedback! You can see from the comment whether the person thought it met the challenge (very important feedback for this particular website's "challenges"), whether they thought it interesting, whether the technicals are good... It's all valid feedback from a viewer's perspective.

Fewer and fewer people comment these days because they fear someone will post something in one of these score threads saying "This moron left me this!" That "moron" is probably doing more than you did - how many comments did you leave, and what kind of feedback did you provide?

I agree with Deb. Its hard enough to get someone to comment... we dont want to turn more and more people away from this practice. From my limited experience, it is really a lot of work to put even a single line comment on even 20% of the images in a challenge.

One should (as a good moral practice, not as a rule) acknowledge and appreciate every comment they get unless it is a mass coded "=]". IMHO, the per category rating style is a good one.. though not perfect. It does tell you what the voter liked, and what they didnt. If you get back at the author for a comment that isnt to your liking, you may want to go back to school and learn about patience and good learning habits. I was actually one of those who was fighting to get people to comment more.. and realised the only way to do so is to encourage them.. not blind them with counter criticism. If less people start commenting, imagine who would be the first one to complain that people are trolls!

By the way, just to clarify, I didnt comment with the style that was complained about here.. although I have no problem with that style. In fact I thank that commenter for taking the time out to look at my image and writing a similar comment.

Now the score:

Certainly it varies up and down. Just seems like every so many votes, it lands right back on 5.5.

I want to apologise to the commenter who left their unusual style (was it Danny?). Initially I found it confronting and somewhat offensive, as I did not understand your system. I guess it would have helped for you to explain the system a little further - initially the 2's looked like 2 out of 10, but I realise that would have taken even more time. Assuming they're not out of 10 in each category, I do apologise for my hasty and knee jerk reaction. I have been running a little heated of late for personal reasons, and shouldn't have jumped on here and complained, its not like me to do so. I do appreciate that you have commented on all the images, it takes a long time to do so and I have never managed it myself.

By the way, i think everyone should be very proud of their images, there's some fantastic work on this challenge, and its almost impossible to pick just three top photos.
