Yeah....

Isn't there some kind of disgustingly sappy lifetime goodness award we can embarrass her with?

I'm not sure I've ever met a more decent kind person......ever.

Nah, she's not in need of any sappy awards. :-)

Can anyone suggest a way I can avoid the window glare that I got in these two shots this morning.
They are taken through my (admittedly filthy) living room window.

Open the window?

Nope.

1 - Can't open most of it.
2 - The part that could be opened doesn't have a screen, and I don't fancy a squirrel in my house.
3 - That likely would have frightened the squirrel away anyhow :(

Squirrel in the house would make for some very interesting photographs!

I had a squirrel coming in my house on a daily basis stealing dog biscuits. Took me months to figure it out! Every day I'd come home from work, find my kitchen window screen open and the box of biscuits knocked over and open on the counter. One day I came home and found a roll of paper towels trailing up and out the window (kind of like a bedsheet escape, lol). One day I came home early and actually saw what was happening. It really was a riot, but scared the crap out me anyway. The squirrel would jump from a pole on to the screen and hang there. His weight would pull the screen down (I open my kitchen windows from the top). He would then jump in and steal whatever he wanted on the counter (he never came down from the counter because the dog would be on the floor barking like mad at that point). Then he would climb a cabinet to get back to the top of the window and leap back out to the pole. Needless to say, I got screen locks.

A polarising filter helps with all sorts of reflections, as well as effectively enriching colour sometimes. They have the disadvantage of soaking up some light, so they're not that clever when it's a precious commodity. I'd certainly recommend getting one and trying it out though, if you're not familiar with them.

I think I may be going through a "dark" phase. I'm really liking dark images right now. Does anyone else like this edit? Is it too dark?

Doesn't look too dark up here in Canuckistan, Kelli. I think it adds a sense of mystery to the shot.

I agree with Susan.(it must be a Canadian thing) I love the tones and the feel that is in your shot. Kelli this is beautiful, nicely done.

MAX!

Thanks guys! I was starting to think I was just weird. The light and colors kind of give me a warm fuzzy feeling. Don, what type of crop would you suggest. The original had much more black space, I tried to bring the attention closer with the crop.

Here's a strange one for ya.....1600 ISO & 200mm Focal length.

[thumb]735461[/thumb]

Some days it just works out.

I considered it for the Free Study, but.....

I know I like it cause it's very subdued and textured. Nice to see a flamingo captured that way.

Nice one Jeb! I've got some interesting shots with that lens too though i have yet to shoot at 1600 ISO with it. Maybe that'll be my project for today.
