An interesting list. Quite remarkable that JJ was able to win 23 ribbons with his style/subject matter which is far less popular than what the rest on the list shoot.

Wow, I had no idea that timfythetoo had won so many ribbons. I must have blinked. |

You *could* make the argument that the DPC of JJ's heyday was a LOT more supportive of his type of work than the DPC we know today. You could even make the argument, if you chose to, that the reason JJ's no longer active in the challenges/community is that he has little interest in a site that consistently values splish-splash above images that genuinely *communicate* something...

Oh yeah. But dang if it seemed to make any difference, sigh... I am really getting depressed by the New Cult of Smooth, replacing the older, less aggressive Original Cult of Smooth. I've never been much of a smooth guy....

what i'd be interested in would be to know how many actual ribbon winners this site has today. meaning all the people that have won at least one ribbon.

This year alone there have been about 250 separate ribbon winners. |

I went back and looked harder on Hopper's unofficial points race page and the number is more like 190-200. Still bigger than I would have guessed as well. |

Interesting, and that's out of what? About 468 ribbons/year + 3 for each special challenge. (I forget, do browns count :P) |

Wow. This depresses me. I have been here since Dec of 06. Had a chance at nearly 1,000 ribbons and STILL don't have one...
o.O
ETA: And, I didn't even get an HM for the one that got moved to 10th because one ahead of it DQed and it didn't actually "place" 10th to start with. I am in the doghouse :(

You only get an HM for 4th or 5th. You do get a little star next to the listing in your profile for a top 10 though ;) |

Just for fun, I did a little data entry. :) (Disclaimer: I didn't double check my data entry, so I may be off by a few here and there.)
I have all challenges and all ribbons in a little database, and it's kinda fun to run queries against it. For example, by my count, 1008 unique users have won at least 1 ribbon in the history of DPC. And here's the current top 20 ribbon winners (well, top 23 due to the tie):
scalvert 45
IreneM 34
librodo 32
DrAchoo 31
kiwiness 31
Larus 27
timfythetoo 24
AlexSaberi 24
jjbeguin 23
arnit 23
ursula 22
heida 21
Brin 20
goodman 20
dsidwell 19
hotpasta 19
Judi 18
elsapo 18
marbo 18
Jacko 16
kosmikkreeper 16
metatate 16
Sonifo 16 |

Just out of curiousity...who holds the record for most entries without a ribbon? I want to know who I am chasing... :)

wow...that's quite a record. I'd be happy to just enter that many challenges! I think it speaks highly to your committment to the site and to photography to participate in so many. Wow!
