This is a very interesting exchange. :)

I am actually surprised by what I read in Max's reply. I looked through the photos in that challenge and was appalled by those that obviously "faked" being homeless to score points in a photo challenge. especially those that dressed down their young family members to try and look the part. I found that to not sit with me very well. I have been through Max's homeless photos and the stories with them and they are very moving, and done in a way that shows respect for the individual.

However to each his own. As long as they were doing it to try and cause some change in this world then it is a good thing.

Not meaning to offend either of you. :)

Have Re Calibrated my monitor as my scores have not been very good of late, sent a photo of a recent challenge to a friend with possibly more knowledge than me in this area, and was informed there seemed to be a colored hue over the image, Have just entered Motion Blur III so this could be interesting if I got it right, if not down the gurgle again.

Rich and poor (but no middle class, we got rid of that awhile ago) shots are up in the results thread. Congrats to Doyle and JuliBoc for the top scores in their challenges. Weekly bragging rights go to snaffles!

I have a CS2 photoshop question.

Is there a way to copy from one spot in the image to another? Like cloning but not using the round brush. In other words, can I select an area with the lasso tool and copy a color from another part of the image into that area? I'm sure it can be done but I just don't know how to do it. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Will the patch tool do what you want, maybe?

I'm not familiar with the patch tool.

Is there a reason you would not just either do a feathered selection for the lasso tool and copy and paste?

I did do what Kellisaid and that seemed to work. I don't use the lasso tool much because I just seem to have a difficult time getting it to go exactly where I want. I wanted to use the clone tool but I was up against some edges where it had to be very precise. I'm going to have to work more with the lasso tool and get used to it. Thanks

You're all doing better than I did. I wanted to enter Motion Blur, but didn't get around to it. That's really not like me. I love to have something to update each week, no matter how badly the score (never the entry, *chuckle*) is sucking.

And your camera probably wouldn't have been too crazy about the idea either! :-) I baby my Nikon and if I REALLY have to shoot outside is cold weather, I use the Canon P&S cause it still gives me really good shots.

ETA: what's going on? I had a fave during voting smiling at me this morning in my MoneyII shot ... all this time, never a fave during voting til Wildlife IV, now this is the 2nd challenge in a row during which it's happened! Not complaining, just kinda eerie *twilight zone theme*

hey! anyone who has access to an airport needs to go do a night shot of the runway with a plane coming in. stand at the end of the runway so you get a long line of pretty lights and a big ass plane right down the middle. i feel the need to live through someone for this...:)

JDubsgirl, I came across this article and thought of your happy buddha shot - maybe you can enter it there?

5.5 for Street and 5.0 for Motion Blur, all done without compromising my personal standards of lunacy.

And a fave for Motion Blur. It's been a while since I had a fave during a challenge! :)

Obviously this score begs the question as to where I missed the mark......let me try to explain wheere I went with this entry.

Well, I thought about the philosophical implications of the challenge, and I thought to myself what I need to do is to try and do a street shot that is indicative of myself and where I live that I might capture the essence of where it is that I prowl looking for those right shots that keep me coming back here to show you all.

I was actually kind of surprised that I didn't get a bunch of DNMC callouts simply by the challenge description.

What I did get were two genuine comments. One was from a photographer whom I know very little about, but I've admired his work pretty much ever since I've been here for his creativity and skill. His comment was "Nice Composition". Considering this man's general overall skill & creativity, I'm going to take that as a terrific comment.

Soooooooo......then I got the other comment......showed up whilst I was sleeping. This person left a comment that personified EXACTLY what it was I was trying to convey to the viewer. It was one of those comments that just cleared the slate entirely and made me realize what it was that I try to accomplish every time I print, post, or otherwise offer up an image for someone else to view.

Thanks, Deb!......8>)

You're welcome, Jeb. Now if someone could just go write "This totally sucks! What were you thinking??" on my Motion Blur, I could gratefully disqualify it, finish my commenting on the Street challenge, and turn off DPC for a week.

Just dropping by to refresh my own "standards of lunacy" ( posthumous).

Thanks! I haven't taken it as hard this time as I have in the past. Though it's still on a downward spiral that could dip into the 3's!
Haha, the voters have no sense of creativity this go around.
