Here's the story:

I was down to visit my brother for a few days, and during my visit he had a guy come to insulate part of his house. Of course I went out to get some shots of the process because I like the 'click' of my camera. The insulator saw my camera and we got into a conversation about photography. Before he got into the insulation biz, he was a newspaper photographer. He'd never had anyone photograph him while at work, and offered to pay for my photos. I said "Sure!" and took some extra shots and also tried to get some advert-type shots with both him and his trailer in them. I took some 'advert' shots, some 'action' shots, some 'scenic' shots, and before and after views both in angle view and detailed panorama, which I haven't stitched together yet. About 130 shots total, after culling the crap.

I emailed him with this link to the contact sheets (view at original size and scroll to see the shots):

I also included some edited shots in my email:

I mentioned that we hadn't spoken about pricing or delivery, and offered to send him the RAW files on disk. He wrote back "the shots look great thanks I leave for vacation in the morning but let me know what the going rate is and yes I would like to have some on a disk."

So... what's that darn "going rate"? Fifty dollars? A hundred? Two hundred? Two-fifty? More? Less?

My brother will probably have him back to finish the rest of his house, but he doesn't want me to cut a discount deal with the insulator because my brother isn't sure how long it will be before he's ready.

Thanks for any comments!

I have no idea what the rate is, but your question looked all lonely, so gave it a reply!

what is your time worth to you? I say go for about $40 or more per hour for shooting and PP, then add about $100 or more just for the service. Even more if he wants prints.

How about the photos?
If these are for advertising, where / how big / how many / for how long?
Does he have a budget in mind?

Also, why would you consider giving him the RAW files? If for editing purposes, will you be satisfied with what he does to the images? Are you wanting to sell usage rights, or copyright? (HINT - never sell the copyright).

Good luck, and let us know how it turns out! :)
