Well... My SB-800 gave me some smiles today... really loved the shots and using my new shoot-thru umbrella I got some really good stuff (may keep for the freestudy, so not posted in here). So, after 150 frames of fun indoors, we decided to brave the autumn weather and shoot a couple of sunset shots up on the roof of my apartment building. All set up, umbrella and SB-800 on the stand, camera on tripod... settings and test shots fired. Just then, a gust of wind kicks up and throws the lightstand, umbrella and SB-800 off the 5th storey roof... talk about heart attacks... anyways, I go down to collect what I expect to be ruins... the umbrella had acted as some sort of parachute, and although the supports were bent, the lightstand looking quite like a banana and the speedlight's plastic stand was in pieces... the SB-800, after having its batteries replaced, fired fine... wow!
I'll be more careful next time... anyhow, so during all this the sun dropped below the horizon and I wasn't able to get what I wanted in the shot... but here it is, the first shot after the fall.
