Ive now officially come to a point where i'm considering getting it to add a something new to my shots.
Is it worth it?
I downloaded a demo - and didn't have a clue what I was doing, nor was the result anywhere near substantial to justify buying it.
So...
Is it easy to work? Would you recommend it? Where does one buy it? |

It is primarily a tool used to reduce the "noise" in your photos. I never use it as an effect-type tool, but some people do apparently. Used in a heavy-handed manor, it will surface blur your photo into something resembling plastic.
I tend to use it on a separate layer... so that after it runs I can insure it didn't "smooth" any detail it shouldn't have. |

With noise, do you mean grain? Like what you get on higher ISO's?
Does it do a good job at that?
If someone could look though some of my challenge entries and see if NeatImage wouldve made a difference in some of them - that would be the ultimate prize, thanks. |

| I also use Noise Ninja instead of Neat Image ... both do basically the same thing, just a personal preference ... |

I have them both and they are rather different. Neat image makes stuff more smooth and looses more detail. Noise ninja tends to smooth and yet leave small "dots." It's hard to explain exactly, but when I do noise reduction I do a pass with noise ninja and then a light layer of neat image to get rid of the "dots."
But actually there is something called TOPAZ adjust and it has a noise reduction filter in it, as well as some other cool stuff. Honestly, it does a better job than both those two. |
