Hey folks, I just grabbed the Lightroom 2 demo as I'm waiting on the CD to come down the pipe to me. In the meantime I want to try and learn as much as I can. I specifically bought it to do batch raw conversions for proofing after weddings. I'm playing with it, and I've learned several things about it. But I cant get something to work and I'm hoping you can help me.
When I want to open a single or multiple photo in CS3 to do some further editing or noise reduction, I can right click it and get an edit in CS3 it opens CS3 but doesnt actually load the photo. When I close CS3 and then go back to lightroom it gives me an error saying The file could not be edited because Adobe PS CS3 could not be launched. Any idea why this would happen? Or how to fix it? I have alot to learn.
Matt
Edit to add, It only does this when I ask it to open up the file with the lightroom adjustments. THe others open up immediately.

Mac or Windows?
32 or 64-bit?
Is Camera Raw installed in the correct location?
Do you have the folder that the files are in write-protected?
Can you create a new library, import an image into it, and see if that works? If it does, your library is probably corrupt.
ETA: Are you using Photoshop 10.0.1? Is Lightroom simply version 2, or are you using the 2.1 release candidate? (If not, try upgrading to each of those).

Windows, 32, camera raw installed as it should be, but I'm working in a jpeg anyway, no files write protected, this is a new library with a new install, I've only opened two sets of photos into it

My Cs3 is 10.0.1
The lightroom I have says version 2.0 and when I try to update it, it says its up to date, not sure if its because its still in trial until I get the serial number or if there really isnt another update. Sure isnt too promising that the first time I try to use it I cant make it work right.

The next update for Lightroom is still in Beta. It will be 2.1. |

Version 2.1 is a release candidate, which means you need to *choose* to upgrade to it (i.e. not via Help -> Updates).

OK here is what I did and it fixed it. According to the link you sent, 10.0.1 can install but not take. I got the 10.0.1 in the version, but further down it had me check another file and it was 10.0 so I downloaded the patch manually and resinstalled it, and guess what now the file further down says 10.0.1 and the file will now open in CS3 with the adjustments made. Thanks so much geoffb. I feel better now. Off to learn some more.
