oh, Mary, Mary, your first post here, maybe a hi from you would have been a better entrance? Might just go and look at the competition now ;)

Sorry Mary, I don't vote for people I never met. But I did vote for your competition though. ;] |

Not sure why we would want to vote for someone that just signed up here today, has no portfolio, didn't introduce themselves etc., etc.,

Sorry, I actually like these images much better. Although most entries there are seriously lacking in general.
ETA: the bottom image on the link I put up would be good for this week's affluence challenge. :P

It would have been nice if she'd been interested enough in DPC to share that here :) |

I wonder if whatever contest she's a part of has rules against linking to your entry similar to DPC's rules. Perhaps not. |

I agree... but she's a young girl trying to win $1000... I don't think she meant to be rude. Unlike a lot of the responses she got. |

No, it's more of a popularity contest. The 10 with most votes get judged, apparently. We already have one of our regular members competing there in another category. HER, we're voting for, because she gives as well as asking to be given :)
I doubt we'll even see Mary again, unless it's to bump the thread.
eta; And I agree, she likely didn't mean to be rude but it IS thoughtless. Maybe if she does see the thread she'll learn something valuable about give and take :)

"Winners may also be selected based on viral activity on the Internet. The "Most Viral Winner" is the participant who submits the Entry that gets the most attention across the Internet on sites other than Brickfish.com. In order to be eligible for Most Viral, entrants must use the "Post to Websites" or "Embed" tools on Brickfish.com to spread their Entries across the Internet to other sites, including, but not limited to, Facebook, MySpace, myYearbook, Friendster, LiveJournal, Tagged, AIM, Hi5, Yahoo 360 and Xanga..."
Though frowned upon here, her only offense may have been to ask for votes before introducing herself. |

Doesn't that sound rather like a roundabout way of paying people to spam? |

Yep, and we're not real keen on viral marketing around here, but others have certainly asked for contest votes before. They just had the benefit of being "known" first. |

dang, i never knew that me asking for votes here would actually cause others from that site to pop up over here asking for votes. i feel a little bad for turning this into a little spammers market. Sorry you guys. :-{ |

Well, perhaps not trying to be rude. But even a young brash person should have a modicum of etiquette. It IS rude to "join" a community only to take from it and not contribute.
Mary, if you read this post and are sincerely not trying to be rude, then take some interest in this web site, get to know some people here, and you might not only get support if you ask, you also might learn a few things here. |

I have no problem with people who actually participate in this community asking for help. It just surprises me that people who have nothing to with the community feel so comfortable just popping in like a sales person at the door. They must think this is just a disjointed community of people who don't interact and simply respond like sheep to posts. Well, actually, if it's in I guess I do sometimes. Baaaa, Baaaa |
