Er -- so are women in pornography exploited, or are they whores? |
Er -- I don't think the two are mutually exclusive. Whore is what they do as a result of being exploited. They are whores by definition if they are accepting money for sex. I made a point of stating that this is definitional before. It is not an all encompassing indictment of their worthlessness as human beings. It is likely in my opinion that they have been manipulated due to their lack of judgement, financial situation, and educational level to participate in something that by definition makes them whores. If someone steals something he is a thief but that does not have to be the defining characteristic of that person. They could also be loving and caring worthwhile human beings. That someone may have been stealing in order to feed his children. It's a good motivation but it is still not right for that someone to steal. It is the rare creature that has no redeeming characteristics. |

At least you admit your bias. However, we weren't talking about rape, physical assault or sexual predation. |
What bias? |
That women should be treated differently than men. |
I would treat women differently than I would other men in the fact that they are physically not as strong in general and my inclination would be to protect them from harm by another man. If that is bias then I guess I am biased. |
It is in that you see women as weak and incapable of defending themselves and see yourself in the role of protector. |

Surely you do not think that a woman (an avg woman) has the ability to defend herself one on one with a man (an avg man) who is going to weigh more and have more strength and most probably more experience (on the avg) at physical confrontations do you? I don't see women as weak and incapable... I see the bare facts of the matter. Men are for the most part able through might to dominate a woman. That's most probably why we don't see a lot of battered men shelters to help them get away from domestic abuse. This has nothing to do with their equality as human beings. It has everything to do with respecting their equality as human beings and doing what is right. Protecting those who cannot do it for themselves can never be a bad thing regardless of how you want to paint it. |

Then I take it that you must agree since you have no argument to put forth refuting my statement that they are not mutually exclusive. |

Are you insinuating that I am a prude? If you are I would have to respond that I am not excessive.

I never said that.
I will say that your attitude toward women seems outdated and insulting. |

–adjective
1. of or pertaining to Queen Victoria or the period of her reign: Victorian poets.
2. having the characteristics usually attributed to the Victorians, esp. prudishness and observance of the conventionalities.
3. Architecture.
a. noting or pertaining to the architecture, furnishings, and decoration of English-speaking countries between c1840 and c1900, characterized by rapid changes of style as a consequence of aesthetic and philosophical controversy, technological innovations, and changes of fashion, by the frequent presence of ostentatious ornament, and by an overall trend from classicism at the start to romanticism and eclecticism at the middle of the period and thence to classicism again, with attempts at stylistic innovation occurring from time to time.
b. noting or pertaining to the massive, elaborate work characteristic esp. of the period c1855–80, derived mainly from the Baroque and Gothic styles and characterized by the presence of heavy carved ornament, elaborate moldings, etc., by the use of strong and generally dark colors, by the frequent use of dark varnished woodwork, by the emphasis on geometrical form rather than on textural effects, and frequently by an effect of harshness.
Seems like the bolded part of the definition is the only one that would seemingly fit and I think we already covered that so no, I don't think this helps.
wait, maybe the conventionalities part may apply... I fail to see how that is insulting.

Since no one is responding any longer... I claim victory. Porn is not good for society. It is not wrong to protect women who are being attacked and I am not Victorian in nature. |
