Absolutely. Early in my 25+ years as an architectural photographer I found myself relying on my meter less and less, and about 5-7 years in I was rarely using it for outdoor shots. I eventually got to the point where even on naturally lit interiors I didn't really need it.

I used spot meters for critical zone system work, and strobe meters (indispensable) for strobe work, but the incident light meter was rarely out of its case for most of its life :-)
