I had to have a good chuckle about the earlier misunderstanding with my fellow Aussie - we do have a good sense of humour, but it is also rarely understood by many northern hemispherians, and we often manage to put our feet in it ;-) Perhaps we're just too laid back and relaxed with all this sun, but our intent is always very friendly and with big smiles on our faces. AND we're jealous of all that incredible scenery up your way, so don't shoot it TOO well!
Anyway, hi Jan, welcome aboard, I hope you have a great time. You'd better warn your family that you may develop a strange affliction that draws you to your computer for hours on end, binds you to your refresh button at midnight every Sunday and Tuesday night, and makes you take photos of the strangest things......

Lol...the translation is even funnier :) though quite acurate. Properly translated it goes like this:
hey nice that there is another cheesehead here.
Cheesehead of course as you will probably be aware is "slightly derogatory" and inaccurate term for a Dutchman or Hollander.

I think Green Bay, Wisconsin must be full of Dutch. Anyway, welcome to DPC. As others have said you will love and hate this place depending on the day. Make sure to check out other things too, like the Learn tab and joining the side-challenges. And of course the forums that you've already discovered.

Well guys...my first challenge is behind me and I must say i am pretty happy the way it went. I have really enjoyed all the excitement that went with it. Not too unhappy with my first score either. Looking forward to more of this stuff. I have 2 other entries running at the moment..1 in the open challenge and 1 in the street photography challenge.
Here is my first challenge entry which was for "affluence" Thanks to all of you who voted and commented.
