So, my wife is looking for a new job in the Chattanooga area (medical coding), and I found this listing in the paper:

"Looking for experienced photo editors. 1st shift is 7am-3:30pm, with mandatory overtime beginning at 5am @ $7.95/hr. 2nd shift is 3:30pm-12am, with mandatory overtime staying until 2am @ $8.45/hr. Background check and drug screen are required. Call 423..."

Don't wait - people will be knocking down the door for this one!

Well one thing about it, most people that will apply for the job likely wont get it, as you would nearly have to be on drugs to take the job, and well the pre-employment drug screen will knock them out.

On another note, with the economy in the funk and people losing jobs right and left, its no wonder companies are trying to lure people into the work force at almost min wage for jobs that require skillz.

Hmmmm... I thought overtime for hourly jobs was for anything over 8hr/day or 40 hr/wk and started at time-and-a-half and went to double time after 12 hr/day or 60 hr/wk.

yep, and it LOOKS like they're advertising the overtime rate, instead of the actual straight-time pay. scary, huh?

And just think, the minimum wage for Connecticut is above their top rate for overtime at night. Maybe housing and food are free in Tennessee...

Too bad for the drug screening, because anyone that took this would have to be high.

It was like $5.25 last time I had a minimum wage job here in Indiana :( but I think it's gone up since then.
