Canon EF 70-200mm f/4L USM Telephoto Zoom
Used
Made in March 2006 (from date code if it is reliable)
Claimed to be in mint condition (I dont know if that is possible:-)

How much would you pay for it?

(I -dont- have one for sale.. I saw a used one on Craigslist and am trying to get an idea of its true worth if I bought one).

Thank you in advance!

ETA: That ad is asking for $500. Is this a good deal?

Thank you for the reply. I would like to keep it for longer if I buy it. But still, wanted to make sure it has a decent resale value.

Thanks again.

It's 600 bucks new. L lenses hold their value. That particular lens used dropped a bit after the IS version came out, but still you can see it hasn't dropped too badly.

That's a great lens to pick up so (relatively speaking) cheaply.

I'm curious about how the value of lenses is determined. Is there some sort of 'Blue Book' on their value? Some people just seem to know about the value of camera gear and I'd like to become more aware myself. Any resources available?

To find the general resale value of anything, you can go to e-bay and use the box on the left side to see what they are selling for at an average. You have to have an account, but it is VERY handy.

ETA: THIS LINK will help ya :)
