... images that I have taken in the last 2 years!

I have been shooting and shooting and shooting and when I see this or that, that is not in the current DPC challenge list, I shot that too!

Now ... having gotten into stock and contest and fine art photography, I have finally realized that all photos that are a month old are not trash just because they did not, at the time, meet the DPC challenge time limitations for the category.

Well, HELL, I just realized that I have a WHACK of super images that I have hardly looked at when I took photos at a whim ... just because I was giddy or playful.

Well ... I have found out that I have a BUNCH of really really good close up photos that need no cropping and are IMO astounding and need very very very little of my 850$ worth of photoshop to make them very fine stock or fine art photos.

I am NOT knocking DPC. I have learned almost ALL I know about digital photography here ... but I just wanted to let you all that don't already know it that YOUR vision and YOUR opinion is above ours as far as esthetic and artistic value is concerned.

Don't forget to do your OWN thing sometimes and look at ALL options to market your photography. If YOU LOVE what you see ... even if you snapped it by accident, chances are others will too.

Please do not let yourself (like I have been in the past) be confined with what challenges are available on DPC, no matter how much you love this place.

Open your eyes and shoot, shoot, shoot ... and be sure to look at your shots critically on your monitor ... Do not dismiss them by how they look on your camera's LCD display.

Go shoot!

... and join the odd side challenge so you can share with the rest of us ;-)

I thought even side challenges require that you actually TAKE the photo after the challenge is announced ...

P.S. I think a super title for your "Spires" photo ...

... would be "Geological Meeting"

... just a thought, BAM sham alam!

Here it is...

I have also found the same thing. Many of my shots that I think are my best did not happen to fit a challenge. What has happened is that I have learned to see the interesting shots and the good light. The opportunity does not always fit a challenge topic. That's also why we see so many shots that are shoehorned. Someone took a pic they are proud of and they want to enter it, but how? A nice spin on the title will do the trick! Maybe.

And since images are now being expected, I am rather pleased with these and I think they are pretty good:

Cough 'em up, Greetmir!

Greetmir you could start your own side challenge for people such as yourself where you 'share an image from the past'.

Side challenges ROCK - and can be whatever you make them.
