I posted today about converting files so they would open in Adobe Premiere.

I have the Casio EX-fh20. Couldn't wait to get a high speed vid in premiere. Guess what? Premiere wouldn't recognize the Mjpeg file format.

After looking around and even thinking about selling the camera I found that the vids would open in quicktime.

The pro version of qt $29.99 allows you to convert to about 20 different formats. I converted to format of my choice and in 20secs I was working in premiere.

It even has Ipod, Iphone, youtube type choices...

I'll post some pics and vids this weekend.

Enjoy it while you can. The dark cloud around that particular silver lining is that whenever Apple releases a major new version of Quicktime, you have to pony up another $30 or avoid even the free version to keep using what you already paid for.

Thanks for the heads up. I was thinking about getting the upgrade from the free version.

Yes but will it matter for me? I have what I need...the ability to convert to nearly every video format out there from one program. I just won't do the upgrades.

When an upgrade comes out, will my version stop working?

When version 8 comes out, it will be included in Software Update. If you upgrade, your current pro features will disappear (I've gone through this process 3 or 4 times).

Yea, unfortunately I have to have QT pro on all four of our family computers, so $120 can hurt. Still for my wife who is a teacher and I who does so much time-lapse work it̢۪s a bargain. I expect QT 8 to come out any time now, so I'll have to pony up again. FYI the way Apple works is if you buy it the day before it comes out, tough luck pony up again. I bought our living room mini 32 days before 10.5 came out. Tough luck that'll be $99.

I know almost nothing about video editing, but can't you get the same results from the open source program VirtualDub?

I tried dub and find it gimpy...at least on my two systems. However, that was about a year ago so I'll try it again.
