Just got back from my California sojourn to find the following message from my sister. The computer is a newish Toshiba laptop running WinXP:
"I've got this very worrisome problem with my computer, and wonder if it's
anything you might know about ... or be able to help me solve:
A lot of my document file folders seem to have DISAPPEARED! The
alphabetical list stops at "H" (Historical Society) but I know I had
folders farther down in the alphabet including Storey Girls, Wards, and
many others. Where could they have gone??????"
Does this ring a bell with anyone?
Meanwhile, I'm trying to get sorted out here and then I'll get back into life-at-DPC, which I presume has progressed just fine in my absence? ;-)

If she knows the name of a file or folder that's missing, she can do a Windows search: Windows Key+F, click All Files and Folders, type in a name and click Search. It's possible that she accidentally moved a bunch of selected folders somewhere else.
Also check the Recycle Bin. |

You can also right-click a drive or directory in Win XP from "My Computer" or Windows Explorer, and it will give her the choice to search.
Likely she dragged a bunch of folders and dropped them off somewhere without realizing.
Sounds like user error, bro...

I'm assuming that's what happened, and that's where I told her to start. Hopefully that'll be the end of it. I'm just sort of getting a head start on more exotic malaises, in case it comes to that :-)
