buying a flash in about 20 min headed to houston

can someone help me out with a flash quick and in a hurry?
I want to get one, can't afford a 580, can someone tell me the best in a 250-300 range?

Well there's the canon 420ex or 430ex they are about $220-260. Get one of those. Not enough different in them to concern yourself with just get whichever they have in stock

wait.. patrick, if a 430 is only around 260 where you are what does a 580 cost there? cause that's about 100 bucks cheeper than the prices here

If it's a tossup between the 420 and 430 get the 430. I was kicking myself for buying the 420 especially when I was ready to take the next step in strobist style lighting. No manual controls on the 420 became an issue for me.

No experience with this, but Best Buy has a camera brand...Sun Coast or some such thing...and they have flashes a bit cheaper than the name brand. IF cost is the major issue.
