Ok, I have a graphic that needs to be lifted from a photo. The end goal is to lift the purple little graphic from the back of the guitar so it can be applied to transparent, white and black backgrounds and made to be used in various sizes. He's not super picky, but I want it to be useable.
The owner wants to use for his CD cover as well as business cards, etc.
I thought this would be easy, but I'm just not sure what to do!! Can anyone help?
I have two photos (here) and a couple more of equally poor quality.

Here is what I would try to do:
Go to Select, then Color Range.
Try the different color channels to find the one with the most contrast, and use IT to select the graphic. |

Can I do that to made the background go away? How do I make it white?
I think I know, but not sure... |

To make the background white just choose the wand tool in PS and click on any black area, it will select the lot if you uncheck contiguous, you can then colour it anyway you want
To select the area of the graphic I used the Magic wand set to 30 and clicked on the purple, then Shift + cont + I to inverse the selection and then painted the whole area Black.
