Like this: Suburb

Is that also oke for this contest?

I doubt anyone would ever call the shanty towns suburbia, they are suburbs sure, but the word suburbia has quite a specific meaning as discussed below. Have you ever seen the Aussie show "Neighbours"..? Now thats suburbia....but absolutely defined by "Wisteria Lane" :O)

Is it allowed?

I have been allowed to sometimes, and been disqualified others. Seems to be a gray area, so I always submit a photo that uses textures to the council for pre-qualification.

This was accepted:

This was not:

Same exact process, but the one is more noticeable, so it was DQ'd. If I would have pre-qualified it like I did the first image I would have known and could have changed it a little.

Yes, definitely. I was thinking along the lines of 'Terry and June' or 'The Good Life'.

I am back in, having shot/entered/pulled it ad nauseum for the past several days ;-) Just can't decide what approach to take. I live in the dang suburbs but my little street is boring and stable and most of the kids (including all of mine) are grown and gone. So I think I've settled on using someone else's suburb ... though I still have 6 hours to change my mind yet again!

I have a shot but it's sooo deathly boring I don't think it worth entering...but to me suburbia IS deathly boring!

I have a photo, but I think my desire to submit it has more to do with the fact that there are not many entries, as opposed to it being a good shot. I'm still not sure if I will submit it or not.

Well, there will probably be at least double the amount of entries by midnight, lol! Everyone waits till the last minutes to see just how many there are.

Well right now you could make the top 50. I can't imagine there will be more than 80 or so. 35 of Wal-Mart.

I didn't enter this one, I just had no idea how to make a suburb street look interesting and I suck at editing too, so I didn't even try. I'll just be voting this time, can't wait for the next challenge.

Hopefully it'll be a better theme than the recent (dare I say rubbish?) challenges, with the exception of the Grimm challenge.

I'm in. I just hope later that I am not wishing I had submitted a special Walm-ART shot instead. :P

Wal-Mart on a Sunday afternoon would have been a good shot. That place is crazy! People will run your butt over to get to the frozen foods.

Well, after editing my photograph, I am really happy with the way it turned out. I'm in!

I'm predicting the brown is mine!
10/12/2008 10:11:16 PM · #48
Dang, 58 entries. Well I am out of the top 50 now.
10/12/2008 10:23:16 PM · #49
Well, just entered.

I must say - my entry is fairly terrible! I'll be battling posthumous for the brown!
10/12/2008 10:25:49 PM · #50
I think I will end up 30th. That is my guess. What is your guess?
