That's a fantastic question, and one to bring up again in a new thread, perhaps with examples. I know every time I think about sticking to a more critical comment I've made after an image has done really well, I'll not follow up on it in fear of the masses smothering me, so that's probably a part of your answer. Yeah, very often I've seen people jumped on for daring to critisize a ribboner. They're accused of "sour grapes" and told that they're wrong, since the majority felt it worthy of ribbon (as if that made it perfect, not just the best of the current crop.)

I so agree with you on this. To criticise a photo post ribbon is considered "sour grapes". What gets me is that there are other ways for those sour grapes to come through. There are voters in here who will silently do it by handing out 1's and 2's and 3's so as not to risk alienating themselves publicly. :( I'd rather hear them say it outright than to covertly do it. It doesn't serve anyone well.

Honestly... I have to agree... but I like it when even the non-ribbon winners are getting a 7+ score... it means that everyone put in a solid effort and created some amazing work!

I was really surprised with my last three ribbons because they all scored below a 7 but they still ribboned...

It's going to be very interesting when the totals come in... i'm very curious how many 7+ scores we will have...

I know I may not be as "cut-throat" for this site, but I'm here to learn :) And learning I am. I'm only a hobby photographer and interested in getting critiques (no matter how harsh) so I feel I'm in the right place. But what do I know eh? I'm fairly new to dpc. Grimm is my 5th challenge I think.. and I mean anything will make me happy right now... I'm drinking a slushie with a super insane amount of syrup!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

oh and my score is at 5.6528 which is funny cuz that is 0.0001 off of my best photo.
