So, I am looking at upgrading my computer and moving into Vista 64 bit. My only concern is losing my Nikon scanner (Coolscan 5000). I know Nikon doesn't currently have a 64 bit driver (although everything else I own does have one now). I also find CS4 with 64 bit support and the abillity to have 8GB of RAM very appealing.
I've read that vuescan allows the Nikon scanners to run on the Vista 64, but I can't find anyone that uses it. Do you lose any of the features (digital ice, etc....)?
I'll probably download the demo this weekend and see what I think of the features, but that won't tell me if it works with 64bit.

| I've been a Vuescan user for many years, and I would not use anything else. I started using it with a Nikon film scanner as well, but continued using to drive my flatbed scanner, since it does a great job with that. The one downside to Vuescan is that you will lose the digital ICE, but Vuescan does a good job of infrared cleaning. Give it a try. Ed Hamrick is constantly improving and updating it. |
