Yikes. Entirely WAY too muich to do in a day! HUGE show/fair/whatever. I did take Sander's advice - went and held, and shot, a Hasselblad. Wonderful little piece of equipment. Heavy. Won't be buying one soon, but it was nice to play with.
Held and dialed dials on the new 5D. I don't like the top dial thingie, the one behind the shutter button - it was very hard and ratchety - noisy even. The one on my 30D turns much smoother and quieter. Could just be that camera, or because it's new or something. I will say, though, that the viewfinder is freakin' awesome. FREAKIN' awesome.
Wandered into the Epson area. The huge prints of the Hasselblad shots were almost enough to bring me to tears, literally. Really incredible.
Best part, though, was the gallery in Hall 1. Lots of very good stuff there. Some not so good, but some very good. They had a phenominal display of (US) Civil War photos. And a wonderfully done series of Women of Europe, where each had a full face shot in B&W, then a related environmental portrait of sorts, mounted side by side for each woman.
And there were still TONS of places I didn't even get to! Should you ever do something like this, make it two days if you really want to see everything.
More later - I did indeed take pictures here and there, mostly at ISO 500 or so. And I'm pretty sure nearly everyone there had a camera.... :-) |

Pictures. Nothing fancy or even traumatizing. :-)
Scenes from the Halls. There were 11 Halls shown on the map. I think I only made it to 4 or 5 of them.
Put a pretty girl on stage, and you get geeks with cameras....[thumb]726901[/thumb] [thumb]726902[/thumb]
Cute little birds of prey

crap now i really regret having started at the other end from hall 1, where the gallery was. we didn't make it there cus the fair was loads huger than i expected plus we wasted spent way too much time at that "the future is analogue" booth where they had free red whine and bubbly...lol
the only good "candid" shot i got (except for the one posted above...) ;)
one big heck of a reflector
the BIGMA

Hall 6. I don't think I even made it to Hall 6. Did they have lighting systems there? I was looking for lighting systems.... Note to self - next time, go for more than one day and try to find out what's going to be where ahead of time! |

Then you missed one of the highlights Melethia! Yep lighting systems, I spent one and a half hours in that hall alone! |

haha ditto on the planning thing!
and yes hall 6 was lighting only, pretty incredible stuff there. it seems the latest trend are lights (especially ringlights) assembled with LED's that actually do provide nice soft lighting.
