OK folks so here is the deal. I've decided to move to a new flash diffuser system and I'm really liking it. I've used the Gary Fong lightsphere for a while and liked it, but felt it wasted a bit of light. So after trying a few I have settled on what I like.

So the question is what to do with my Fong Lightsphere clear C4 with inverted dome......I guess I could sell it, or I could give it away. Or I could make a trade for something that I could use. So this isnt a For sale, or a WTB so its not in that section. This is a who wants to make a trade.

A little background. I have a son with a Muscle wasting disease, in the hopes of bringing joy into his life and at the same time doing something for him that would help him, we decided to apply for a service dog for him. We found a local organization that works with families like ours and went through the application and training process and have since recieved a Service dog for him last december from this organization.

They are having a fundraiser next month and I have offered some fine art prints of my own, and a couple of friends have done the same. So what does this have to do with anything? Well I'm wanting to exchange one digital fine art print of yours for the Gary Fong lightsphere delivered to your door.

Here is what I am doing, I have a printing service who is offering ink and paper, I am making all the mats in house, and I have a framer who is offering me a discount on frames, of which I am paying for myself. Currently I have 6 prints framed and ready to deliver, I'd like to take one or two more, for them to have for their silent auction or door prizes. If you want to offer one print in exchange for the lightsphere PM me with a link to the photo and I will take 5 days to let offers come in and then have my son pick the one photo that will win the lightsphere. After chosen you need to send me the digital file ready to print(digitally signed if you want too) the file will need to be print ready in 8x10 format, I will have it printed and then destroy the file. I can assure you the file will be used once, and then tossed. I'm not looking to steal your file, just trying to help them raise money as a way of saying thanks for the gift they have given us.

Matt

What a fantastic idea. I don't need another LS but if you would like to choose one of my images, I would be happy to donate it to the cause.

Yep, same here. I mean, I'd take the lightsphere if you want to give it away, but regardless, feel free to request one of my images. Actually, if you'd like more than one, just name them.

I don't have anything worth offering because I don't have a GF lightsphere ;)
(and no talent either, of course!)

I don't need a GF, but just wanted to add to Judi's, what a great idea. My wife has used a service dog for a number of years, actually her first one was our first male Bouvier, then one of his daughters worked part time as he got older and took over for awhile after he passed on. Then she got his grandson from the original breeder, who took over the duties right off the bat like his granddad did. All of them have been trained by my wife (she'd still be waiting on the waiting list if she waited for some organazation to come through with one and they have to many rules about other dogs too) and all have pretty much stepped into the role with basic obediance training starting as soon as their eyes open. So I can understand just how rewarding and special a service dog can be... and if it's possible, even more a part of the family.

Wow I had no idea the response would be such as it is. There are some amazing people here on DPC, not like that is news to anyone. Everyone who has sent me a PM I think I have responded, if not I will soon. Judi and Jeff I will look through your portfolio, I'm sure I could come up with something. I'm going to let my son help pick the photos. I'll get with everyone this week, as I'm going to have to check with the suppliers to see if there is a limit to what I can get from them at the discounted rate. I'll also check and make sure I dont overwhelm CHAMPS with so much stuff they wont know what to do with it. Although they could easily use the stuff at later fundraisers if needed. Thanks again for the offers.

For those who have asked you can read a bit of my son's story on the website(which is horribly out of date because I'm too busy to keep it up) //www.brandons-site.com it has some links to pages about his disease as well.(Duchenne's muscular dystrophy)

Matt

Edit to add a photo of the cute couple on her birthday last week.

My wife has Multiple Sclerosis, and DPCers have donated more than $1000 to annual walks I've done, so I'm delighted to give back. :)

Just click on Available Prints :)

I also don't need the GF. Give it to someone who does. Glad to help! :)

I don't think I have anything that would interest you, but if I did you would be sure to use it for your fund raising. I would have no problem giving you some prints.

How about adding one of these?

One

Two

Don't need the LS, as I have 3 that I already use. Even still, feel free to use these for fundraising.

Thanks Waddy, Johnna, Jason and Eric, and those that have sent me PMs. I have put a call in to the framer who is offering discounts to see if there is a limit to how many I can get. The printing and mats are not going to be a problem as the ink and paper are already here and I'm printing and mating them myself. But I never asked about a limit on the frames so I dont want to get carried away. But I really want to say thanks to those who have offered, I hope I can take everyone up on their generosity, however I cant be sure of that until later today or tomorrow.

Hey Matt, you are a good man and Ive always liked you, and coming from a father that has a son with a disability as well I think what you are doing is awesome. Ironically enough my son's name is Brandon as well and that struck more notes than I may have wanted but I just wanted to say if there's ANYTHING in my portfolio that you or your son may like to use then Im more than happy to donate a photo to you as well :)

-dave

*Edit* forgot to add that I already have a GfLS so if by some sick twist of fate one of mine gets picked send the LS off to someone else...

Thanks for the offer, I will be getting back with everyone later this week. I only have a couple of offers to actually take the Lightsphere at this point. And I suppose I need to make sure it fits the flash they have. I suppose I should put up a list of flashes that the C4 size fits.

Not that I have any talent to speak of, but anything in my portfolio is yours for the cause. lightsphere, or no lightsphere.

This site has been extremely generous to me, both in terms of money but also emotional support. I am not sure any of my photos are up to this standard, but feel free to browse my portfolio for anything you might like.

Is there a way we can make a donation to the fundraiser?

HI Barb, thanks for the offer, I will look through your portfolio as well. And yes you can make a donation directly to CHAMPS through this link, there is even a page where you can fill out an in memory or in honor of. If you want to do that, just put it in honor of Brandon O'Harver and Hazel(his service dog), or whomever you would like to put in.

Thanks so much.

Matt

Matt, I don't consider any of my work 'fine art' but feel free to pick an image or 2 from my port (best with 2008 images as my archiving sucks).

Pick one of mine too, while you're at it!

Since everyone is reporting.... I already have a GFLS as well.

Already have a LS... but happy to contribute a photo to the cause! You are welcome to any photo here or on my pbase site. Just let me know which one if you find one you would like to use.

Matt, anything you want or need let me know. I too already have a GFLS but am willing to help in anyway I can for a very good cause.

Feel free to choose any of my images available on dpc-prints

Same here. I'd help out. Horse stuff, mostly, but you can have your pick.

I don't have a LS, they seem intriguing, watched friends use them at a wedding a week ago. What are you preferring, tell us later?

DPCers have been generous to me in my annual American Heart Association fundraising. I don't believe I have anything that would be of interest (and I do have a GF)....but is there a way to make a donation to your expenses in this project? You have mentioned that the framer is giving you a discount....that indicates there is still an out-of-pocket expense for you. I would like to donate to that expense (as opposed to donating directly to CHAMPS, which will be my second option)
