Let's see who's carpooling:

Nald driving with Pearlseyes, aneyra, and my neighbor. Maybe battymaddie might come with us also.
Dwterry riding with his daughter in the fancy blue car.

That leaves rjkstesch and WCpilot and any other that may join us still open. Where should we meet? There is a Quality Inn at the exit of I-80 and Redwood. Also, a Super 8 at the exit past the airport (exit 113). We can meet at either one. Thoughts??

I'd prefer to meet at the Super 8 to avoid back tracking.

Just a reminder that Pictureline closes at 2:00pm on Saturday for those who need to pick up last minute items.

Okay, my sister and a partner (for the ballroom picture) will be coming and my dad might be coming, so that would be four of us....depending on whether my dad comes or not, I may or may nor need a ride (just me), BUT one way or another I would definitely like to meet somewhere in between and drive up together, have we decided on somewhere?

@ Madelyn: sounds good if you would like to meet me, Pearlseyes, and Aneyra at Kohl's in Draper (12300 S. exit east side of I-15) at 2:15 - 2:30 you are more than welcome to follow / ride with us.

@ Group: I think it's a good idea to all meet up before we head out. Here are our best options to avoid back tracking.

I-80 west bound.

Wright Brothers Drive exit 114. There are plenty of places to park out here. You've got the Marriott Residence Inn, and a Microsoft building that has ample parking and it's lit. See pic below.

Super 8 is at the 5600 West exit 113. Also ample parking and both exits provide easy on and off of the Interstate.

We could meet at Salt Air as well, this might be the best bet for Becky if she is coming from West Valley, she should be able to come down 21st (201) to Salt Air. Again easy on and off of I-80 from here.

IMO these our our best options for meeting up. JMO...

Thanks Nald! Hey just a random thought if someone had a tv (could be an old one) and a xbox or something, it might be a fun picture to have some guys playing that or something. I have an xbox, but I can't bring it with me since it will be the only thing entertaining my husband while I am gone on this little trip :), Though I could possibly bring some guitar hero guitars. Does that sound like a type of thing anyone would want to do?

I kinda like Salt Air as it would at least give the early arrivers something to do while waiting for the late comers (i.e. snapshots of the resort).

Regardless of where we go, I suggest we get cell phone numbers of those that are going just so that we can be sure that everyone that is coming has arrived at the gathering point so we don't wait around too long. I don't know that we want to be publicly posting cell numbers... perhaps sending private emails to someone in charge. Nald?

I vote for the Salt Air.

The quickest way to Salt Air (and the Salt Flats) from the south takes I-215 west to SR201 (old 21st South)west, and take the small road at about 120th West which is marked Great Salt Lake Marina. It will cross over I-80. SR201 meets up with I-80 before Tooele.

I'd love to be able to shoot at Salt Air before we head out to the Salt Flats, so I'd be getting there early.

Salt Air sounds good to me. rjkstesch, I'll head up early with you. What time should we all plan to meet at Salt Air? And I have two friends that are thinking about joining. Just need to see if they're working that afternoon.

Unless earlier times come up in the discussion, we are still set for 3:00pm.
09/24/2008 11:18:16 PM · #111
Salt Air it is then 3:00 PM unless you all would like to get out there a bit earlier; that's fine by me. I'd love to shoot my favorite train car again. ;)

I agree with dwterry, cell numbers would be a good thing. I'll be sending my mobile number out to everyone in my group, David and Becky.

This is going to be a whole lot of fun. :)

I guess you'll just have to model for us...... ;-)

I agree with David, bring her dress so that you can do some modeling. :)
09/25/2008 04:37:09 PM · #115
haha riiiiight, but that wouldn't solve the problem of not having a boy :) If we are super short on models I could maybe do something to help you guys out....but I'm not sure about being able to help you with the ballroom stuff.

Just having fun with ya... But we can always use more models. :)

Okay tomorrow is the big day!

So aneyra and battymaddie have expressed interest in meeting up early so I'll be at Kohl's at 1:15 tomorrow. If you can make it early great if not don't stress out about it I'll wait for ya.

My sister has agreed to model for us so we'll have another female to shoot.

This is going to be a whole lot of fun people, I can't wait!

See you all tomorrow,
Nald

Maybe, not sure, if so I'll try to make Salr Air at 3pm. If someone would send me some cell number that would be great. How far west are ya'll planning to go for the salt flats? Any particular place or just whatever looks good? The old train cars are always good, I've sold some photos and videos of it this year.

I had to go see the DreamWorks movie "Eagle Eye" tonight. DreamWorks bought two of my HD video clips to use in the movie, that was fun.

Ditto what Skyler said! :)

He and I are off to Cascade Springs this morning with another photography group. Then out to the flats this afternoon. Fun filled day! :)

Hey, guys I’m a little bummed. I was looking forward to being able to meet some of you and being able to take some shots. I’ve had some things come up with work and I’m not going to be able to make it. I’d love to another time if we plan another GTG or if anyone goes out to the flats again. – Let me know.

Back from Cascade Springs ... eating, downloading photos, getting ready to head to the Salt Flats in about an hour.
09/27/2008 04:14:32 PM · #123
WOOT!! See everyone soon. BM, sorry to hear you can't make it. I'm sure we'll have another GTG going in the not too distant future.

I'm running a few minutes late, but am on my way.
See you there.

Well finally made it home after the GTG. WOW 235 miles from the Salt Flats to home, it's been a long day.

Great chance to meet old friend and meet many new ones. The models were ... WOW!! Thanks so much, please pass on to all the gals my thanks, it was fun and they were all so professional, looked like everyone had fun. Now I just have a couple hundred photos to go through and see how much I learned.

The salt flats were a great idea, I haven't had a chance to let the horses loose in my Pontiac Trans Am for a long time. Yup still does at least 151 mph and on the official speed track made it even more fun. Sorry for showing off, I just couldn't help it.

I'm falling asleep so better go, see ya'll and thanks
