Can someone verify my assumptions?
So... I tried to get in with Alamy and ShutterStock. Both have evaluated my images. But I am not quite what to make of their feedback.
Alamy requires 4 initial pics. The email they sent to me says:
The outcome of our Quality Control check is as follows:
Filename - MyFileName1.jpg
Rejection reason - Noticeable retouching
It says nothing about the other three images... so I am guessing that they were ok (?).
I suppose that I should upload 4 more (the 3 that were not rejected plus something new).
Shutterstock was similar. Their email shows all of my images. All of the images say "Not Approved", but for 6 of the images, the listed reason is "7 of 10 must be approved". I am assuming that those 6 images are ok and should be resubmitted along with 4 new ones.
Can I get an amen?

No, do not guess/assume that. At Alamy, if one image is kicked back, the whole bunch is. They may not have even looked at the other 3.
Hang in there. Submit simple, clean images to get approved and look them over at 100% before submitting. |

Barry - thanks for the response, man.
That seems like such an inefficient way to do things though. It doesn't save them any effort if I resubmit the first three again along with something new.
But thanks for the info... I at least have a better idea what to expect. |

I've never tried to get into a micro site but I am now submitting to Alamy. Here is my portfolio so far. From what I've heard about micro sites...almost none of these images would have made the "cut". My car pics are getting a lot of traffic, also getting views on the others. Not bad for such a tiny portfolio. Knock on wood, everything I have submitted has been accepted. But one thing is worth mentioning...I almost never crop unless making something square. I compose in cam so I have max pixelage to work with and do very little cloning and such. I mess with the color and that's about it. |

Thanks (again) Rachel. I will keep those points in mind. I don't really intend to actively pursue stock for money... but would love to have something published somewhere. |
