Couldn't find a thread in forums, but can the gradient tool be used in basic editing? Thanks.

i'm thinking not too because maybe it's considered a selection? Does anyone know for certain.

Anything that causes an effect to be applied differently to one part of the image over another is not allowed.

Sorry... the gradient tool is a no-no in Basic. Actually, it's probably rarely a good idea in Advanced, either, since you risk creating a new element by using that tool (like substituting a gradient for a background, for example).
