$1 Bob Drew Carey now, ugghh they killed that show,
No but seriously, You could probably get $1500 pretty easily if you sell now, if you wait till the 5d Mark II is purchasable that number drops a lot lower (which I'm waiting for).

| ROFL! But at least you've had it for a while. I bought my 40D just weeks before the 50D came out. |

I wonder if this will be true. It's probably the 50D that would cut into the price the most. How much does a 30D sell for compared to a 40D?
$1500 is probably a start, but my guess is in the $1500-$1700 range. |

Yup, the 5D is about the only thing EVER that I have purchased that has held its price pretty well.. I guess a lot of people will get great bargains on used 5Ds now though. Lucky them. |

You wouldn't sell your 5D Simms, hey I'll tell you what, I'll give you my brilliant 24mm f1.8 for it.
To be honest mate, I don't think the price will hold up too bad even after the new video version of the 5D comes out.

I paid 1600 about 4 months ago for mine. Used, <5000 actuations. I was happy with the price then and would be now if I needed to purchase another. I'll bet they fall down to the 1400-1500 range. It's a lovely camera, even without some of the newer bells and whistles.

Question for the 5D owners:
If the 5D's price drops and is close in price to what the 50D is going for what would you buy if you didn't currently own the 5D?
If the 50D was full frame it would be a no brainer for me but it's not.

| I'm not a seasoned 5D owner, but I wouldn't want to go back to a crop sensor as my main camera. I know the 5D is 'old' technology, but I try not to let it bother me. :) |

You are damn right about going back to cropped sensor, even dropping down to a 1.3x when I picked up the 1D it took me a while to get used to things like smaller viewfinder, losing the wide end of my 16-35mm.. I am kind of used to it now, but nothing comes close to that "OH MY F**KING GOD!" Factor you get when you are at 16mm on a full-frame. The fact you can see your feet in portrait mode is testament enough :)..
Will always make sure I have a FF in the camera bag. |

Unfortunately I can only get to 17mm. :( I have rather large feet though, so I can still see my toes. In a wierd way, the full size viewfinder is my favorite feature of the 5D. totally spacious. |

I've never owned a FF cam (1.6 & 1.3 crops) and whilst playing with MAK's 5d with his 16-35 it was awesome but seemed kind of weird when I popped my 70-200/2.8 on it - everything was so far away lol. Am sure it comes into its own for landscape even if its a little dated these days.

I'm actually in the market, if the price is decent. =) But aren't you in the UK?
Anyway, on FM I see them going at ~$1700 now. I've seen $1500 on Craigslist. Obviously depends on condition and extras included. But like others have said, this will probably decline over the next couple months. |
