are there any tutorials out there that can give a detailed view on how to make use of photoshop to make the photos i take more dramatic? such as the famous pezman does in this pic.... //www.pezpix.com/gallery/2630996_eA9v7#257929564_2Dpqi

I don't know that there is any one secret. I've been learning one little trick at a time. There are some photos that you just can't do much for if they just don't have potential in the first place. I think the biggest trick is to get the lighting right in the first place. I've taken to collecting useful articles on camera and PP technique, and paying attention to what processing tricks people here have used. Often I will revisit some technique after a few months and find what was over my head previously, now makes perfect sense. I am just starting to get the hang of using layer blending to give my shots some zip. Still experimenting, though.
