Yeah... "content aware" scaling! I was hoping for this. Check out the video from the recently completed Photoshop World. The CS4 presentation starts about half way through.

Thank David, I've been looking for a vid link since last night.
You can also sign up to the webcast on the 23rd Sept (the launch date) on Adobe's site. |

My CS3 is an upgrade from 7. Will I be able to upgrade to CS4?

Adobe loves you folks that think you must upgrade to every new version.

In my case that would be about a buck and a half. Still way short of affording an upgrade. |

Some of us have tech guys at work that were smart enough to buy maintenance with CS3 last year. Woot!
Really though, all it gives me is bragging rights, as I still haven't learned all the great things that came out with the CS3 update. lol.
I've read about the content scaling, though. That's neat!!!!! |

| Ohhhhh, is it that thing where you resize a photo and it adds/subtracts data with squashing it all up? |

To learn more about Content Aware Scaling you can watch that video link I provided at the top (but it takes a long time to get there), or watch this short video.

At Photoshop World last Thursday, Adobe announced they would announce CS (wink & snicker) Next ... aka CS4 on September 23 ... and demonstrated it. Jaw dropping performance on large files (think 200 MB - 2 GB files) on a PC with modest processor power. If I hadn't seen it, I would not have believed it. They claim they've made some things easier. There's better integration with formerly Macromedia programs (e.g. Flash, Dreamweaver, et al). And a few whiz bang features like the aforementioned content aware scaling.
If you have CS2 or prior, I'm pretty sure it will be worth the upgrade. If you have CS3, it may depend on the stuff above whether you're interested. |
