| ...so supposedly the word from a friend of a friend who is an industry insider is "october". How accurate do you think this is? Discuss please. |

| How BAD do you want it??? I waited a long time for both my D70 and D300. Nikon does not have the best track record for getting the goods out in a timely manner. I went into my local camera store and preordered both to get on the waiting list. |

B&H has the kit availalbe by mid to late September. Body only by October.

The first ones are shipped next week. I heard of people getting them on monday.
Nikon has learned a lot. When they announce it is now production bodies that are available within weeks.

| Ok I'm going to preorder this baddie. Are all vendors the same in terms of shipping date? I'm going with either Amazon or BH. |

I ordered one from Ritz Camera yesterday and just got the shipping notification! I can't wait!
I'm heading to Japan in early October and wanted to make sure I got this in time (my D50 is having shutter problems), so I ordered the kit for $1299 and will be promptly eBaying the lens. For some reason, the body without a lens won't be available for a while. Amazon currently says "Ships in 1 to 2 months". |

Here in Canada, they have an estimated ship date of September 19th.
I have heard numerous reports of Best Buy in the US having the kits available on the shelves as of the 5th.
I am shooting a wedding on October 4th, which I was planning to rent a backup body for. Hopefully, my D80 will be my backup body if I can get my hands on the D90 before then!

Assuming this is a reliable source, the D90 Body Only has started shipping to retailers!
