| For those that don't know, this is an annoying virus that pops up constantly. It's on my mom's computer. I've tried everything I've found so far on the internet to remove it. She bought "SpyHunter" software - now I wonder if that in itself is a virus? I've tried locating all the probable files and registry entries with no luck. The darn thing still continues to pop up. Anyone have any experience with this beast? Advice? |

yes, just dealt with the bugger last week, but the 2008 variety, so there may be some differences. I have instructions on where to find certain files and how to get rid of them. PM me a reminder and I'll look up the info when I get home this evening.
Also this anti-malware one here was the only one effective in eradicating the last little bit of it I couldn't get myself (hijacked my browser). They have several apps, use the "anti-malware" one. |

| Thanks - I'll try the malware thing. I've run several antivirus packages and they clean up a bunch of odd things, but using the instructions on what files to find and delete nets nothing. So there's some little thing still out there somewhere that I just can't seem to find. Pain in the butt, I tell ya! |

For Windows 32 bit, I'd highly reccomend F-secure. For 64 bit, Avast! seems to do the trick best.
Mac and Linux are much less often infected, but are not immune. |

| I use Avast! too, and it's very useful - but I ran the malwarebytes app before Avast and malwarebytes cleared up the infection, so I can't speak for whether Avast! would work on this particular one. |
